Dear Sirs,
Dear Friends,

I'm writing to you in consideration of
- direct knowledge
- past or present collaboration relationships
- Erasmus agreement
that I've the honor of entertaining.

The Doctorate program at the University of Salerno has an opening to foreign students – hopefully interesting for you - again for the new academic year 2008-2009.
Undergraduate students from EU- and non EU countries can freely apply to a specific Ph.D. program within a very wide range of subject areas.

A limited number, i.e., 6 scholarships, has been made available exclusively to foreign students for all subject areas by the University.
The Doctorate program lasts 3 years; each of the 6 Ph.D. students coming from abroad and declared eligible for the admission will be supported by an annual grant of € 13.638,47 gross for 3 years.

The selection of the foreign applicants will not be carried out by means of a written test and/or an oral colloquium and, as a consequence, the foreign applicants are not obliged to undertake a trip to Italy to undergo a true examination. Instead, the selection will be based on a comparative evaluation of the applicants' curricula and qualifications, which will be carried out by a University commission on the basis of a gross distinction of applicants into 2 areas:
1. Humanistic – Law – Economic Area
2. Technical – Scientific and bio–medical Area
A University Examining Commission will assign a maximum of 60 marks for each candidate, so divided:
Research project up to 30 marks
Academic and scientific titles up to 20 marks
Other up to 10 marks
