What stands before us to discuss today, fellow senators?
Citizens are being slain left and right, and one of our number has
been slain by... a private citizen, who seems to be on the side of
Caesar.
The populace calls out for our names, and yet we know that revealing
our identities is... less than ideal. We must consider what we wish to
do, whether one of us wishes to open ourselves to the
Marc Antony has slain someone, and is clearly working independently of
us at this point.
The people seem divided on their understanding of our actions. Some
consider that killing Caligula was impolitic, and others take the
opposite tack.
We must, of course, take all these events into consideration, as well
as any issues that may be brought before us.
The citizens clamor about their debts; is there anything that we can
do about this? Since we, the Senate, have traditionally been able to
declare holidays and festivals, perhaps we could find a way to stave
off debt for the citizens?
Consul, we look to you... if you're still alive.

Are we to make another speech to our people? If so I think this should
be addressed!
"Fellow citizens, you are asking for our identities. We hear you and
we would give to you what it is you seek if we were surrounded by
protectors as Caesar is. But we are not. We do not have people
protecting us at every turn and to reveal ourselves would make us an
easy target for Caesar. I know why you want to know, and if there were
no repurcussions, we would let you know in a heartbeat.
However, be sure that we are still working in your favor, trying hard
to keep Rome together through these trying times. We ask for your
understanding in this matter and your trust in our intentions. We only
wish to serve Rome and her people, for her people are the ones who put
us where we are. Without you, we are nothing. Without you, Rome is
nothing. Together, we are unstoppable."
Any thoughts?

Oh yeah... You have a vote!
Today, you can vote to redistrict Rome, giving each of you an equal constituency size.

I like your idea well, Brutus.
Also, I like the idea of re-districting a little, though I don't see
how this helps the citizens at all...

And what would the actual effects of equal constituency size be? One
senator equals one vote?
I agree with Senator3, Brutus' speech seems fine.

Yes on Proposition Brutus Speech.
Yes on Proposition Redistricting.
I would like to air my concern that we may lose the favor of the
people of Rome if Caesar continues to make her divisive speeches in
public unchallenged. Just a thought, Senators.

I also wish to open the floor to a comment made by archangel_2:
"And yet, new Senators take the place of the old ones, as chosen by
the Censura. One Senator coming forward to speak on their behalf would
do them good both ways - if Caesar kills the one spokesperson they
have, it looks bad on her, and will turn the tide against her - AND,
the Senators lose nothing, as another Senator will be chosen to
replace him or her.
I'd say that the Senator that comes forward is actually the safest
from Caesar..."

archangel_2 does have a point. However, is it not within Caesar's
powers to choose new senators? If we continue to lose senators, the
senate will fall to him before long.
I say yes on the speech.
I'm undecided on the redistricting. I don't see it as too beneficial
to the populace. I'm more included on saying no, as saying yes could
be seen by the citizens are politicians trying to gain a more solid
control of their power. I will consider this one and get back to it
later.

I'm undecided on this redistribution. I would like to understand the
benefits and consequences more before I vote. God? Can you give us
more information?

I think Senator 1 May have been the victim of an attack last night.
Unfortunate.
Regardless... I am still unsure how this helps my constituents, other
than by changing who they are.

I think, fellow Senators, the we've all come to an agreement in our
confusion. It seems the majority of us can't see the benefits or the
consequences of redistricting and so I feel we should vote to not
redistrict. With little information, we can not make a wise decision,
and since we cannot the only safe and logical course is to remain the
same.
I vote to not redistrict.

Since no one has added to my brief message, I think we should send it
to the people. Let them hear what their Senate has to say.
I would also like to add this to the message:
"Again, we beseech the people of Rome for their support. You ask why
we aren't doing anything and I ask you "What can we do?" Most
decisions that affect the people have been given to Caesar. If we
could vote on something to help you we would. However, today we were
only given one vote and that was on redistricting. We were not given
any idea as to the effects of this vote, just that we could vote on
it. All we know is that it would make the amount of constituencies
equal for all Senators. We are not sure how this would benefit Rome's
people, or what consequences it would have. We have not been told. And
so based on the information we do not have, we have decided to let the
matter lie, keeping the districts as they are.
This is not something that you will feel the effects of in your day to
day lives. This is not something that we can hang above your heads as
a cookie for good behavior, as Caesar is doing with the taxes. Do you
not think that had we the power to vote for taxes being lowered,
remaining the same, or being raised that we would not vote for them to
be lowered? We can hear you plainly. We are not simple-minded men, we
know how our people suffer and we know how our hands are tied in
helping them. Had we the choice, we would make it easier on the
people.
But we don't. The choice was given to Caesar and he hangs it over your
heads, promising no change as long as you behave. See this for what it
is - a preview of his actions if he should get full power. He wants
people to vote in his manner, for his ways, and if you don't, well, to
Hades with you! He will extract loyalty from each citizen at the tip
of a sword, threatening you with economic harm should things not go
his way. He doesn't care about what higher taxes will do to you, just
what they will do for him! And what will they do? They will give him
more cronies, making it harder to eliminate him. You will starve and
he will eat a sumptuous buffet at your expense!
No, do not let Caesar sway your feelings with promises of prizes for
good behavior. Rome's people should do all that is in their power to
do what is good for ROME, not what is good for Caesar! This is the
decision before you. Do you place your trust in Rome, or do you place
your trust in one man, Caesar? You have already seen what Caesar will
do. Now I ask you, good people, what can you do for Rome?
The answer? Everything!
Let that weigh on your hearts how it will.

As I have no idea how relevant redistricting is to Rome I don't really
have a view on the matter.
in regard to archangel_2s comments and also to the issue before me of
choosing a new senator I would ask that you add a small request that
people voice their opinions on a choice for the new senator. I want to
make as informed a choice as possible and will wait until tonight to
make my decision and I want as many contributions as possible. Of
course, my fellow senators I will welcome your input later as well.
Is -_- a senator? He seems to be all but claiming it.

I think with us not knowing our true identities, we are not well
equipped to pick someone for senate. However, you do and I so I will
default to your choice.
An addendum needs to be made in regards to our addressing the people.
The entire message should be such. Aidnetas, please show this in full
to the people:
There are rumors going around about how this Senate works. Allow us to
enlighten you and with the knowledge, lay your hearts a bit at ease.
We in the senate do not know each others true identities. We are
listed as you saw in the first days notes. Senator One, Senator 5,
etc. We know not who each other are or what district we each
represent.
Also, while it would seem the most practical manner to not kill anyone
at all, alas, the Gods have forced our hands. The Gods state we MUST
choose someone, and a no kill is not an option. Our hands are forced
in this manner.

I also vote not to redistrict, as there is no visible benefit to the
people of Rome, nor, indeed, to the inner-workings of the Senate.
Brutus, I like your message.
