Hello All! This Project is in full action mode! Thank you to all who
have gotten back to me. I have all my participants.
Here is the list of artists and their veteran:
Heather Buechler and P. Dolan
Sara Wrzesinski and T. Balke
Jonas Angelet and M.Gourlie
John Hitchcock and G. Kapinos
Tracy Honn and M. Sorensen
Kris Broderick and S. Noonan
Cricket Redman and M. Agee (I NEED CRICKET TO EMAIL ME, PLEASE)
Max White and Yvette Pino (Max please e-mail me)
There is a possibility of one more veteran completing his oral
history
after the holidays. That being said, would Lisa Davis be interested
in
taking that slot?
Below I have included the Information about the Wisconsin Veterans
Museum Research Center. You can also find this info by going to the
website: http://museum.dva.state.wi.us/ResearchCenter.asp
Matthew Sorensen is our trusted contact and conductor of the Oral
Histories. He is also one of our veteran participants. He has done an
outstanding job encouraging these veterans to share their stories. He
has informed me that you may now have access to listen to these
stories if you do the following:
1. Contact the Wisconsin Veterans Museum with at least one day
advance
notice
2. Tell them who you are and let them know that you are part of this
project.
3. Give them your veteran's name and tell them that Matthew Sorensen
conducted their interview.
4. Arrange a time when you can go and listen to the oral history.
Unfortunately, the interviews have been done recent enough that a
written transcript will not be available. You will have to go to the
research center and listen there. For this project, once you have
made
contact with your veteran you and the veteran have several options.
1. If possible, you can arrange a meeting with the Veteran and
exchange stories. Some of the Vets may not want to do this, in which
case you should go and listen to the oral history.
2. Contact your veteran just to establish the connection that you are
the artist who will be doing work based on their story. If they want
to meet you so that they have face with a name, that is nice, but not
mandatory. I would advise that an informal meeting, if possible may
be
helpful to you as an artist, to represent this veteran in the most
complete way possible.
3. Direct contact is not mandatory. Communication can be shared via
email or telephone-- what ever is most comfortable and convenient for
you and your veteran.
4. You can, of course, do both- meet with your veteran AND listen to
their story.
5. If you have any problems or conflicts of interest, please let me
know. We want this to be a fun and rewarding experience-- For
EVERYONE
OK. Now some meat and potatoes. This exchange will not be exactly
typical.
I am working with Jeff Kollath at the museum to change the original
print size from 16 x 20 to 12.5 x 19 to fit in an 18 x 24 size frame.
I have spoken with a couple of you about going larger. I am happy to
have a couple of the prints be 18x24. I will consult those on an
individual basis. Therefore, THE PAPER SIZE FOR THIS EXCHANGE IS
12.5"
X 19".
Edition size 13. *** If this is going to be a difficult number to
reach please let me know. We need at least one final print by the
deadline for the installation.
Deadline: March 1, 2011. Prints for the show will need to be given to
me. We will arrange time and place closer to the deadline.
Let us all celebrate! Tracy has offered a possible open studio time
in
February and John Hitchcock has confirmed a possible open studio at
UW
Madison in February. I am confirming dates and will be updated you by
next week. Keep looking so all of our calenders can be marked!
Finally, we may have assistance with Paper but I want to get
confirmation details on that as well. (Tracy I will email you
directly)
PRINTERS, GET YOUR PRINT ON! It has begun! Thank you all for
everything, including your patience. You make me proud. I need
everyone to email me their phone numbers for a contact roster. THANK
YOU!
Yvette.

Dear Vets for Vets Artists,

I have some paper to donate to the project for any of you who would
like the stock I'm offering. It's not fancy, and I suspect will be
best for relief, letterpress, and silkscreen.

25 sheets each of either of these French Co. 65 lb cover weight, 12.5
x 19" papers
Pop Tone "Whip Cream" (basically off-white)
Smart White "98 White" (basically bright white)

I'll have the paper on campus for pickup after Wed. this week, or
email me and we can make separate arrangements.

Tracy
