IRTF Fair Trade

At outreach tables throughout the year, IRTF sells artisan-crafted fair trade items—raising tens of thousands of dollars—so that artisans and farmers in Latin America can earn a living wage. In addition to Equal Exchange brand fair trade coffees, teas, and chocolate, IRTF features handmade jewelry, wallets, handbags, ornaments, and more. Through its fair trade program, IRTF calls on consumers to examine and challenge the corporate-dominant economic model that results in exploitation both at home and abroad. Alternative trade organizations like those in the fair trade network, in contrast, are setting standards to ensure fair wages and human dignity for producers, community investment, and environmental sustainability.

Please see the links below and consider volunteering for a shift at one of our off-site sales over the next week.

IRTF+Equal Exchange: Partners in Just, Alternative Trade

IRTFDonate. Use this code and Equal Exchange donates 10% of your purchase to IRTF through May 2026. Equal Exchange was founded as a solidarity organization in 1986 to support small farmers in Nicaragua by importing their coffee despite the US embargo.  Forty years later, this worker-owned co-op continues to prove that a more democratic food system is possible. Look here at the annual summit being held in Massachusetts in June. Think about traveling with IRTF friends from Cleveland!
