Don ,
This year has been so difficult for so many of us, and we are still grappling with the repercussions and mounting attacks on our jobs and the services we provide millions of people across the country.
Despite this, we hope that this holiday season you are able to spend quality time with your friends, family, and loved ones.
As we look ahead to 2026, we feel hopeful. We feel hopeful because of the incredible organizing that we are building together. So many of us stepped outside of our comfort zones. Many of us took part in collective action for the very first time, talked to a coworker about our working conditions, or even shared our stories to national media highlighting the experiences of what it’s like to work at Social Security right now.
Each of us are building our union together, to demand a strong future for Social Security. Those are reasons for hope and reasons to celebrate.
We’re starting off the New Year with a day of action on January 14, and we hope you’ll find a way to plug in. Click here to find an event near you, sign our action pledge or sign up to talk to an organizer.
We look forward to continuing to build our movement and our Union as we demand and win the working conditions we need to support ourselves, our families and Social Security recipients.
In solidarity,
Rich Couture and Jessica LaPointe on behalf of the AFGE SSA General Committee Spokesperson
