Support Needed for SB 329, a Bill that Would Ban Radioactive Fracking Waste from Being Used on Ohio Roads as a Deicer and  Dust Suppressant - Calls Needed Monday, January 26, 2026 to the Ohio Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. SB 329 sponsors, Senator Kent Smith and Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson, are poised to give their sponsor testimony at the Statehouse to the Senate Agriculture & Natural Resources on Tuesday, January 27th at 3 pm. Their bill would end radioactive oil and gas waste being spread on Ohio roadways as a deicer and dust suppressant. This oil and gas waste brine is not even tested before being applied to roadways. Better options are needed rather than an untested waste product containing radium 226, radium 228, benzene, and other carcinogens. Please ask for support of this bill by contacting Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Chairman, Tim Schaffer(614) 466-8076scha...@ohiosenate.gov, and Vice

Chair, Kyle Koehler,

(614) 466-3780,

koe...@ohiosenate.gov. Urge them to allow full committee hearings on this bill. Also contact House Natural Resources Committee Chairperson,

Monica Robb Blasdel, (614) 466-8022, re...@ohiohouse.gov,

and Vice Chair, Tex Fischer, (614) 466-6107re...@ohiohouse.gov, urging them to give Senate Bill 329 a full 3 hearings in their committee. If you are able to be there in person the hearing will be on the 2nd floor in the “North Hearing Room”. Can’t come in person? You can still help by calling members of the Ag & Natural Resources Committee.

You can also watch on the Ohio Channel.
