Inside the birdhouse, the little babies vocalized their hunger to their parents. Between parental visits, I did try to take a quick peek inside the nest box, but it was too dark for me to see the babies very well. We believe there were four in there, however.
The attentive wren parents also kept a tidy house. Above, one parent can be seen removing a fecal sac. Many baby birds release their poop in a strong mucous membrane, or fecal sac, allowing parent birds to easily pick the membrane up in their bill and remove it from the nest.
That is, until one woman lingered too long near the nest box, and the returning parent bird in frustration swallowed the insect it was carrying and proceeded to chee-chee-chee-chee angrily at the woman until she left the nest area.
Here at home, our wrens change their nest location every year. They briefly considered the shed again, but it seems their final choice was elsewhere. But they still collect food from the garden smorgasbord, so they are around somewhere!
Enjoyed this post a great deal! We had a pair of Carolina wrens nest in a clay nesting pot hung on our breezeway about 2 years ago. It was so much fun to watch them busily caring for their little ones! We were lucky enough to see the youngsters shortly after they fledged, too.

Papa Khan is the patriarch and chieftain of the Great Khans in 2281.[1] From their main camp at Red Rock Canyon, he oversees the tribe and its diplomatic relations between them and other factions,[2] such as their alliance with Caesar's Legion.
Papa Khan is the patriarch and chieftain of the Great Khans.[1] He is well versed in the tribe's history[3] and is described by Jack as "a softie at heart."[4] It can be assumed that Papa Khan was once a New Khan working under Darion. At some point after the death of Darion at the hands of the Chosen One, he led those who survived the destruction of the New Khans in California to the Mojave Wasteland[5] in 2267. He then continued the tradition of the Khans, raiding many of the surrounding tribes, soon becoming the major force of the Mojave while creating an image of ruthlessness and ferocity that could not be matched.[6] In 2274, Mr. House recruited the surrounding tribes, giving them money, weapons, and supplies, creating the Three Families.[7][8] Mr. House and the Three Families drove the Great Khans first into Northern Vegas,[9] then out of New Vegas entirely. Realizing Mr. House was too strong, Papa Khan decided the risk was too great for an assault and the benefits too few when plenty of caravans and settlements were still open for raiding.
The Great Khans then withdrew toward Bitter Springs as their new semi-permanent settlement. Then, when their old enemy, the New California Republic, expanded in the Mojave, Papa and his Khans naturally lashed out at the settlers and soldiers that began to pour in, entirely predictable considering the history of hatred between the two factions. Large war parties of Khans began attacking and pillaging NCR settlements and outposts. When Mr. House and the NCR signed the New Vegas Treaty, the NCR then had free hands to deal harshly with the Khans, culminating in the massacre of Bitter Springs.[9] Papa Khan was leading a war party against an NCR outpost at that time, so he feels heavy guilt and responsibility for not being there when his people needed him most. His grudge against the NCR to this day is a major driving force behind the alliance between the Great Khans and Caesar's Legion.[5]
He can be found inside the Great Khan longhouse in Red Rock Canyon. The longhouse is the only concrete building in the village and is located to the right as you enter the Canyon. At night, he can be found sleeping behind the locked door.
Dr. Papa listens and he communicates any concerns he has about my overall health. He makes suggestions and even if I dont agree he gives me an opportunity to correct or make changes until we see results at next follow-up visit. He by far has been one of the best Primary Doctors I have had.
I was spoken to, provider takes control, and is rigid, only on his schedule. It was more a one-sided conversation. Rushed, feel as though I cannot discuss all I want/need to. Don't feel as though I can express true feelings, concerns, because they will be discounted or I'll be told to make another appointment to discuss. The appointments are whirlwinds, and I walk out wondering if what I needed was actually addressed.
Dr Papa is the best doctor anyone could have. He remembers everything about me, makes intelligent recommendations, responds to test results and MyChart very fast and is just a very kind person. I hope he never retires. :)
I do appreciate being able to see an MD. Dr. Papa Is great, rather than a pa or np. The scope and experience of an M.D.'s training is far superior to a PA or NP. I guess I just wanted to hear more of what my doctor has to say. I know they are stretched for time.
Having had the same PCP for over 40 years and needing a new one as he had left the practice, there were many sleepless nights as to who would be my new PCP. Having worked in the medical field for many years, meeting Dr. Papa as my new PCP with his team was a WOW !!!! I finally was able to have a great night's sleep. My husband [...] and I were able to be seen together and it showed his empathy and working from a treatment team model. His clinical assessment skills with treatment recommendations were spot on: very thorough and never felt rushed , all the while documenting as needed. Was very creative in lowering my white coat blood pressure by thirty points by having me with continued laughing during the session and shooting me up with two boosters: he needs to take his show to town. He truly Is a mentor to all. We feel very blessed and fortunate to have been able to become part of his practice. To be noted: The office was meticulously clean and all the staff were professional and supportive . :) [...]
It felt like he is a caring doctor that listens to his patients. It was an introduction meeting, he listened, asked and answered questions and we feel very confident that he will assist us in making medical decisions. [...]
Dr Papa is a very knowledgeable, kind and compassionate physician. I have complete confidence that he has my best health interest in mind and I am very happy that he helps me manage my healthcare. In my opinion, his practice is the gold the gold standard!!
Dr. Papa is an excellent doctor and I highly respect him but I felt this time he was rushed. When I mentioned to him it's been a year since I have seen him and we have a lot to catch up on, please take your time to read my chart, he stated "I don't have time". [...]
There is VERY limited time to address questions/issues. I feel rushed to ask questions, and am limited to only questions regarding the reason for making the appointment. I am rushed and asked to limit questions during annual physical exam as well
I can't say enough good things about Dr Papa. I never, ever feel rushed during my visits with him. He gives me all the time I need and thoroughly explains everything to me. He never makes me feel embarrassed or ashamed. Whenever I have sent him a message through MyChart, he responds within a couple of hours. I think that's incredible that he answers my questions so quickly.
[...] All my medical records, personal information was up to date. [...] I communicated with Dr Papa via MyChart and he is very responsive to answer my questions and concerns. Thank you for the opportunity.
Dr. Papa is great and I respect that he's well known in the community and I am proud that he is my PCP. I wouldn't want to change that because he is a brilliant doctor and I feel good that I'm under his care. However, he's often very rushed and can sometimes come across as curt and it makes me feel he does not care nor take anything I say about my personal health seriously. I may be notifying him of an issue just to let him know in case there is cause for concern. I don't always need a solution but sometimes need reassurance it's nothing serious. I sometimes leave visits with him feeling upset by the way he reacted, or that I forgot to tell him something cause it all goes so fast or I didn't get to explain myself fully and he misunderstood my intent, or just that he didn't listen to what's really going on, and only addressed on the surface. [...] On the other hand, sometimes he is uplifting, funny, sincere, and friendly, but always fast moving and in a rush. I understand there are a lot of patients but I don't visit often so when I do there's typically a valid reason.
Dr. Papa is an Incredible doctor. He is thorough, preventive in his care, listens, quick to get back to us if question on MYCHART. He addresses any issues that arise, checks our history before we see him, always goes over meds. Great at referrals when needed and Implementing procedures. Great at explaining Issues when necessary. Very personable.
