I thought I would post this here...
Have you guys heard of Vision PDX?
http://www.visionpdx.com/
They have a grant called the Vision into Action Community Grants
Program and I think the NICE would be a candidate!!! $10,000 is
available! ...The only thing is that we need a non-profit to act as
our financial sponsor, but I think we can do this. What about the SSC
or Greenhouse Network? Anyone know of any other entities that may be
interetsed?
Monies may be used for:
-staff time related to project
-program-related expenses (food, space)
-volunteer support (stipends)
-communication materials (printing, supplies)
-equipment for events or activities
-translation
-administration (up to 10% of total request)
Let's do it! I need to:
-Describe the project in 250 words or less (I can pretty much use the
slingshot description for this)
-Describe the main population we plan to engage in this project
-List all the partners/partnering organizations, and describe their
anticipated goals (letters of support NOT required!)
-What existing community resources or organizational support will you
draw from to ensure this project's success?
-Describe how your project advances Portland's community vision
through at least one value and at least one of the 5 elements (see
values, we've got at least 3 of them: environmental, economic, and
social sustainability)
-Explain how our project is creative and innovative
-List our overall goals, specific project activities, and outcomes
anticipated in the first six months of project implementation.
Outcomes should be measureable, such as number of people engaged,
events orchestrated, or projects prodced by community (we've got this
covered with our final report...right?)
-How will our project contribute to long-lasting change?
-Discuss your plans for project evaluation. How will you gauge your
project's success? (this is the report again...right?)
THIS IS DUE ON JUNE 6th!!!
Awards are announced on June 30th
Must report back progress to the City of Portland in January of 2009
Thoughts? Comments? Ideas? I think we should do this! We need to pin
down a non-profit, 501 (c) (3)!!!
