I would use a web based client like IMP (www.horde.org/imp) which is
free, or Mailspinner (www.mailspinner.com) which is commercial. There
are a number of these available. You can try one for free at
www.mailandnews.com .
Just set the apprporiate URL as a bookmark in the browser.
The best part is....no client software to screw up....

To restore your favorites after a crash/reinstall, put the floppy in the
drive. Then right-click on the Favorites folder on the floppy and select
'Copy'. Then right-click on the Windows folder on your hard drive and select
'Paste'. Say yes to the following question to replace the already existing
folder. Again, there ya' go.

Reccomending Outlook 98 a simple IMAP email client is just about the
funniest thing I have read today. It does nothing in a simple way.
It's really quite simple as you say, first of all it depends on whether you
have created a user profile for yourself or not, if you haven't, it's even
easier.
1. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and then go drive C: (assuming you
have windows 98 installed on C).
2. Open the Windows folder in drive C.
3. In the windows folder you will see a favourites folder, simply right
click on it and choose send to Floppy.
If you have created a user profile for yourself, follow these steps.
1. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and then go drive C: (assuming you
have windows 98 installed on C).
2. Open the Windows folder in drive C.
3. Open the Profiles folder and choose the folder with your login name.
4. You will see a favourites folder, again right click and choose send to
floppy.
It's highly unlikley that your favourites will exeed 1MB in size so saving
to a floppy will be no problem, if it does exeed 1MB then you'll have to use
another medium or use Winzip 6.3 or higher which enables you to span larger
files over several disks.
If the answer helped, please let me know, so I know I haven't wasted my
time.

If you want simplicity, check out PC-Pine at
<http://www.washington.edu/pine/pc-pine/>. Be warned, it doesn't have a
typical Windows GUI, but rather looks like Unix Pine.
