Yesterday after coming back to my computer after leaving it idle for
10mins waiting for a download to finish I find that my display
settings have been automatically changed to 640 x 480 pixels and 16
colours.
This isn't right I said to myself. So i clicked on display setting
properties and tried to change it. The only other options it gave me
in this tab were to choose from 2 - 16 colours (no 16 or 32 bit) and
either 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 pixels.
I changed the settings to 800 x 600 and 16 colurs to see what would
happen and windows prompted me to restart my computer for the
setttings to take effect. I did and at windows tartup a message box
appeared stating that
"There is a problem with your display settings. Either your driver or
hardware is incompatible"
This can't be right. I've had the same system for 10 months and
nothing major like this has happened.
my system consists of an AOpen motherboard with and intel celeron 900
cpu
my display driver is a ProSavage S3 and I have 256 memory. I have
over 18gig of free space on my HD and am running win98 as my OS
No matter what I do I can't seem to change these display setting s and
i keep getting that dialog box at start up. It is SO frustrating
especially since majority of my work is on this computer and seeing it
in only 16 colors does not help one bit.
So far I've tried to tried uninstalling then reinstalling the driver
for my display adapter. Still the same.
I thought that Windows may have a problem with it so I even went to
the trouble of formattign c:\ and reloading fresh windows.
Still to no avail.
Please o please could someone plese help me!!!!!
If so please reply to me email address. Thank you
