Today marks the 8/6 anniversary of the Israeli strike on the USS Liberty in the Mediterranean. The Jews hoped to sink the ship with all hands, pin the attack on Egypt, and provoke a war between the US and Egypt, but despite all their efforts, it didn't work. Many were killed, but not all. And today at noon, the remarkable Congressman Massie will deliver a speech in memory of the Liberty—the same Massie who was sunk like the Liberty, by the same Jews who spent $40 million trying to drive him out of Congress.
There's a wonderful article about the Liberty in Russian by Alexander Mezentsev. Here it is:
Operation Cyanide
In the "Vesti Nedeli" program on April 28, 2013, Dmitry Konstantinovich Kiselev, by declaring that Israel's attack on the American spy ship Liberty on June 8, 1967, was "AN ACCIDENT," committed a grave historical error, wittingly, or rather, unwittingly, playing into the hands of the US and Israeli propaganda machine. His statement can only be compared to the claim that the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were "accidents."

In fact, the attack on the Liberty was a joint (top-secret) American-Israeli operation called Operation Cyanide, ordered by US President Lyndon Johnson and Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol. Reputable British author and journalist (BBC, Sunday Times) Peter Hounam, using documents in his book Operation Cyanide: Why the Bombing of the USS Liberty Nearly Caused World War III (2003), proved that Operation Cyanide was sanctioned by the White House as a crucial component of Frontlet 615—the 1966 American-Israeli political agreement under which both countries pledged to jointly overthrow the pro-Soviet regime of Gamal Abdel Nasser in Egypt.
On May 23, 1967, having received instructions from the US Deputy Secretary of Defense Cyrus Vance, Captain William McGonagle of the Liberty (the most modern spy ship in the world at that time) directed the vessel, registered to the National Security Agency, from Abidjan to the Eastern Mediterranean, to the area of the then Egyptian Gaza Strip, with a stop in the port of Rota (Spain), where he was placed under the command of the commander of US Naval Forces in Europe, Admiral John McCain (the father of the ardent Russophobe - the main presidential candidate from the Republicans in 2008).
In Rota, the Liberty picked up linguists fluent in Arabic and Russian. McGonagle was ordered, in top secret, to anchor just 12 miles offshore "for radio monitoring and patrol," despite the fact that no U.S. Navy vessel was nearby to protect his comrades. The head of NSA's "G" team, renowned cryptologist Frank Raven, immediately protested the change: "The ship will be completely defenseless off Gaza. Either side could open fire on it. My opinion is to keep it in West Africa."
On June 5, 1967, Israel committed aggression against its neighbors: Egypt (then the UAR, the United Arab Republic), Syria, and Jordan; the war lasted six days, becoming part of the Frontlet 615 project. Meanwhile, the Liberty docked in international waters near Gaza; it was sent there deliberately – with the sole purpose of being sunk by elements of the IDF; the blame would then be placed on the UAR and even on the Egyptian ally, the USSR. This would automatically lead to US intervention against the UAR and other Arab and/or Islamic states, the joint occupation of many of them by US-Israeli forces, the creation of a Greater Israel from the Nile to the Euphrates, total US-Israeli control of the Middle East and the Mediterranean, and the final ousting of the Soviet Union. Moreover, in January 2006, a senior staffer of McNamara, the US Secretary of Defense in the Johnson administration, told Liberty veteran Gary Brummett: “The main reason for Johnson’s escalation of the Vietnam War since 1964-1965 was the common desire of Israel and its American friends to divert world attention from Zionist aggression in the Middle East.”
On June 8, while the Liberty was moored just off the town of El Arish in the Gaza Strip, Operation Cyanide began. Initially, the ship was subjected to a series of raids by unmarked Israeli Air Force Mirage and Mystery fighter jets—15 in total (Liberty veteran Phil Turney testifies that warplanes with Israeli markings circled the ship at least 13 times before the attack). The goal of the very first raid was to cut the Liberty off from the outside world by destroying the communications transformers (miraculously, only one survived)—therefore, the attack was by no means a mistake! The Israelis were jamming the Liberty's radio frequencies—the top-secret frequencies of a state-of-the-art spy ship—meaning they were transmitted to them by the United States; it simply couldn't have been otherwise for purely technical reasons.
The pilots used cannons, machine guns, rockets, 450-kg bombs, white phosphorus, and napalm (intended solely to kill and maim people, cause panic and confusion); 851 air strikes were counted—a figure that simply cannot be considered the result of a mistake. Following the air attack, the Liberty was attacked by Israeli Navy torpedo boats, which launched six torpedoes at the ship, five of which missed, as self-defense fire from the American sailors forced one torpedo boat to veer into the channel of the other. Alas, the only torpedo successfully launched exploded, penetrating the ship's side, killing 25 people immediately and creating a 12-meter-wide hole below the waterline. When it became clear to the Liberty that the ship was about to sink, McGonagle ordered the crew and passengers to abandon ship. Then, committing yet another war crime, the torpedo boats machine-gunned the lifeboats, making it impossible to rescue the Americans (one lifeboat was towed to Israel, where it likely remains among the trophies of the Zionist navy to this day). Soon, an Israeli gunship appeared over the Liberty, carrying heavily armed commandos ready to parachute onto the seriously damaged vessel—no doubt with the mission of eliminating all survivors and sinking the Liberty. This never happened, as several American sailors, armed with service weapons, demonstrated their courage and determination to fight to the death in defense of themselves and their comrades. The helicopter then flew away, after which an Israeli torpedo boat approached the ship, whose commander hypocritically offered to help the Americans.
Operation Cyanide killed 34 US citizens and wounded and maimed 171 others.
Captain Ward Boston, the US Navy's attorney general in 1967, testifies, based on documents and sworn testimony, that the Liberty on June 8, 1967, bore clearly visible all the markings of the United States, including the new, large national flag. Furthermore, Oliver Kirby, the NSA's director of operations in 1967, told reporter John Crewdson of the Chicago Tribune (October 2, 2007) that his colleagues intercepted and immediately transmitted to Washington the communications of the Israeli pilots who attacked the Liberty; these documents clearly and indisputably indicate that the Israeli Air Force knew of the Liberty's American affiliation even before the raids began.
During the more than two-hour Israeli attack, 16 American fighters took off from the aircraft carriers USS Saratoga (based off the coast of Crete) and USS America (moored off Malta) to reinforce the Liberty. However, they were personally recalled by Lyndon Johnson, who told US Navy Admiral Lawrence Geiss that he would rather see everyone on board the Liberty killed and the ship destroyed than worry his loyal Zionist friends. Johnson was under the control of high-ranking Israeli agents – Arthur Krim (chief treasurer of the US Democratic Party and director of the film company United Artists) and his wife, Matilda (his mistress, who in her youth had worked for the Zionist terrorist group Irgun); they used a reliable combination of money and sex to force him to send the unarmed Liberty into the Mediterranean to its certain death. It's telling that during the attack on the Liberty, no one in the US Navy knew the nationality of the attackers (although Geis later claimed otherwise). Johnson, however, knew—from Matilda Krim, who was in her private room in the White House at the time and informed her lover of the start of Operation Cyanide. Johnson's statement to Geis that he would rather see the Liberty and her entire crew destroyed than have the Israelis suffer is logical and understandable in this context.
Operation Cyanide also embodied ideas from Project Northwoods, developed by General Lemnitzer, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, in 1962. According to the plan, to create a pretext for aggression against revolutionary Cuba, American forces would, in an atmosphere of total secrecy, shoot down an American passenger airliner, blame it on Castro's forces, and launch a campaign of "Castro-style terror" in the United States. President Kennedy categorically refused to sanction Northwoods. Incidentally, Lemnitzer, as Supreme Allied Commander Europe, also participated in Operation Cyanide. It was he who appointed McCain to the post in London, from where the admiral oversaw the practical implementation of Operation Cyanide.
On the American side, two submarines also participated in Cyanide, one of them the Amberjack, from which the attack on the Liberty was filmed and photographed. Their captains were likely ordered to sink the Liberty if the Israelis failed, according to a former Amberjack sailor who told Liberty veteran Joe Lentini. All subsequent attempts by Liberty sailors to locate this man have ended in failure; Lentini is certain he was killed.
Today, virtually all researchers familiar with the Liberty tragedy agree that "the Israelis attacked deliberately." Big deal! Israel commits war crimes, acts of aggression, and terrorism against both its allies (the Laban Affair against US and British targets in Egypt in 1954; the assassination attempt on President George W. Bush in November 1991; the murder of US citizen Rachel Corrie in 1993; the pirate hijacking of the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara in 2010, etc.) and, of course, its enemies. The essence of the attack on the Liberty—i.e., Operation Cyanide—is that it was an AMERICAN operation from start to finish, albeit with Israeli assistance. The American side invested everything possible in Cyanide, prepared it with the utmost care, and reasonably hoped for 100% success. The Israelis botched the entire plan! It's truly a miracle – like so much in Operation Cyanide.
In general, based on the facts, it appears that the main goal of the 1967 Arab-Israeli War (glorified by pro-Zionists Leonid Mlechin and Sergei Pashkov) was the destruction of the Liberty, blaming Egypt for this monstrous crime and, consequently, given the allied relations between Cairo and Moscow, the Soviet Union. Thus, the prospect of a global Nuclear Holocaust in 1967 turned out to be quite real. Indeed, researcher James Bamford (retired US NSA employee) in his monograph Body Of Secrets (2001) documented that on June 8, 1967, US Air Force strategic bombers had already received orders to bomb Cairo (including with nuclear bombs!) in retaliation for the attack on the Liberty; they were recalled only when the fact of Israel's attack on the Liberty became clear to all eyewitnesses. Bamford has proven that certain US government agencies (the NSA and others) knew about Israel's planned attack on the Liberty at least 24 hours before it occurred. Bamford points out that an NSA aircraft was circling over the Liberty during the attack, which was aggressively forced to flee the scene by Israeli fighter jets – an additional fact that contradicts D.K. Kiselev's assertion that the attack was "accidental."
According to Peter Hounam, only McGonagle of the Liberty crew was briefed in advance from above that his ship would be used as a decoy for US and Israeli geopolitical interests and subjected to a "mild attack" by the Zionists. The attack, however, was large-scale, likely because intelligence officers aboard the Liberty had learned of war crimes committed by the Zionists in El Arish. Israeli army historian Aryeh Yitzhaki, based on collected evidence, estimates that approximately 400 victims of the massacre were Egyptian prisoners of war. Ariel Sharon was in the El Arish area on June 7-8, 1967, and Moshe Dayan, Yitzhak Rabin, and other Israeli leaders were already informed of the brutal extermination of the prisoners.
Admiral Isaac Kidd, leading the US Navy's investigation into the Liberty affair, announced that the Israelis attacked the ship, mistaking it for the Egyptian vessel Al-Qasar. However, Ward Boston testified under oath that Kidd acted "under the express orders of Secretary of Defense McNamara and President Johnson." The US Navy command prohibited its own investigative team from visiting Israel to question the local Navy and Air Force officials who participated in the attack on the American ship. The document recording the results of the eight-day investigation, conducted at the US Navy's behest, remains classified "Top Secret."
It's worth emphasizing that the Soviet destroyer, which escorted the Liberty practically from Gibraltar to Gaza, played a crucial, DECISIVE role in Operation Cyanide. On the day of the attack, our ship was stationed at a distance, out of sight of the Liberty, conducting surveillance, and, according to French scientist Dr. Laurent Guénot, its presence forced the Zionists to halt the attack.
By the evening of June 8, our destroyer offered assistance to the crippled Liberty (after the attack, no American ship was allowed to assist the Liberty for 17 hours); the Soviet sailors were shocked by the scale of the destruction on the American vessel. Although McGonagle declined (for a variety of reasons), the Soviet ship voluntarily became, in effect, the Liberty's guard ship on the long voyage to Malta. (Johnson, hoping that the seriously damaged Liberty would sink en route, ordered McGonagle to proceed alone along the longest route—the Maltese route—to the US Naval base, even though American and NATO facilities in Cyprus, Turkey, and Greece were much closer.) The Soviet captain probably realized that there was some diabolical plan behind the attack on the Liberty, and that if the Liberty sank en route, the blame could be placed on Nasser's ally, the Soviet Union, and not just Egypt.
Perhaps the very fact that the Soviet destroyer escorted the Liberty from the death zone to the waters of Malta forced the captains of the Amberjack and the second submarine to abandon the idea of delivering a decisive blow to the Liberty: we thus witness one of the ironies of the Cold War – a US Navy ship attacked by allies, betrayed by compatriots, rescued by enemies.
Since the Israelis failed to complete their part of the task, and the submarines were thwarted by Soviet sailors, the plan was changed, and a formal apology from Tel Aviv and the fable that continues to circulate to this day about “Israel’s mistake” came into play.
The courage of the Liberty's sailors, the incompetence of the Israeli military, and the presence of a nearby Soviet destroyer firmly protecting the Liberty saved humanity from thermonuclear war: American bombers, en route to bomb Cairo and Alexandria with atomic bombs, were recalled literally at the last minute, en route to Egypt. In their madness, the pro-Zionist clique in the White House was prepared for a probable nuclear clash with Moscow—just as they are now prepared for a similar one in connection with the Syrian war.
The Liberty incident is, without a doubt, the most shameful scandal in American military history. Johnson ordered a complete cover-up of the attack and forbade all Liberty personnel, all of whom knew about the tragedy, from discussing it even among themselves, much less with their families and the press: under threat of court-martial, imprisonment—or worse! And for many years, none of the sailors or NSA employees spoke or wrote about the bloody atrocity—with the exception of US Navy Commander James Ennes. Seriously wounded on June 8, 1967 (he was the duty officer on the Liberty's bridge during the attack), he published his book Assault on the Liberty only in 1980. Even then, his surviving comrades dared not publicly discuss the massacre for 16 years!—so serious were the threats from the US government against them.
Cyanide also became a powerful weapon of blackmail in Israel's hands against the United States; therefore, it can rightfully be called the most explosive secret in American history. Since 1967, America has done nothing serious that would contradict Israel, because Tel Aviv knows the truth about Cyanide and, in a critical situation, can always play its trump card: "You Americans orchestrated the entire plan and exposed your own ship to our attacks, pushing the world toward nuclear war."
The Liberty tragedy was no accident, but merely a prelude to the mass murder of September 11, 2001, a similar operation, only more complex and significantly modernized (and which also failed, only increasing hatred worldwide). Today, as in 1967, almost no one, with the exception of the political and military elite of Israel and the United States, on the one hand, and a few dissident conspiracy theorists, on the other, understands what a catastrophe the failed attempt to destroy Liberty proved to be for the sadistic plan known as "Greater Israel from the Nile to the Euphrates" (which automatically implies eternal war against the Islamic peoples). It took the American-Zionist imperialists 34 years to prepare and carry out (certainly more successfully than in 1967!) a similar crime on a gigantic scale, to draw America and the West into a "war of civilizations" against the Arab-Islamic world. As Bob Kerrey (Senator from Nebraska, Vietnam veteran), a member of the official commission investigating the events of September 11, 2001, aptly noted, "the terrorist attacks of September 11 were part of a 30-year conspiracy." And Eckart Wertebach, former head of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany, said that "the deadly precision and scale of the planning of the September 11 attacks indicate many years of preparation and training." It is safe to conclude that preparations for the September 11, 2001, terror began almost immediately after the failure of Cyanide. Then followed a world war unleashed by the American-Israeli “axis of evil,” one of the main targets of which, as the aggression against South Ossetia in 2008 showed, was Russia.
In 2010, prominent American radical dissident Bruce J. Campbell wrote a screenplay about the events surrounding the Liberty, titled "Cyanide." The translation was provided by the author of this article.
