The upcoming MedTech meeting will take place on

This time, we are very excited to have invited Dr Rosemary Tan, CEO of Veredus Labs and Genecet Biotechnologies to share with us her experience in Lab on Chips, Science and Entrepreneurship
Bio
Dr Rosemary Tan received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Calgary, Canada before going to the Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology, Osaka University and Department of
Immunology at the Medical School in University of Tokyo, Japan (Prof Tadatsugu Taniguchi’s laboratory) under an Economic Development Board-Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha scholarship to study cell growth and regulation in cancer and infectious diseases. She obtained a Ph.D. degree from the National University of Singapore and has published widely in research areas related to the immunology and genetic basis of cancer and diseases, as well as the Naito Science Award in Japan.
Dr Tan was a finalist for the National University Hospital-National Medical Research Council Young Scientist Award in 1999 for her contribution in the study of infectious diseases and was also awarded the Spirit of Enterprise award in 2003 for her work in Genecet Biotechnologies, a company she founded in 2001, which dealt in the design of educational kits for schools to teach the principles of life sciences.
Dr Tan founded Veredus Laboratories Pte Ltd in 2004. It is a privately held, medical diagnostics
company engaged in the development, commercialization and manufacture of diagnostic assays for
infectious diseases. Veredus Laboratories won the Red Herring Top 100 Private Companies in Asia
Award and the Asian Innovation Award (Gold) from the Wall Street Journal Asia in 2006. Veredus
was also named as one of the most important development to watch by Business Week in 2006.
Veredus went on to win the Red Herring Global 100 award in 2007, clinched the BioSpectrum
Editor's Choice Emerging MedTech Company of Singapore in 2008 and was named as one of the Top 100 Molecular Diagnostics Manufacturing Companies Worldwide and one of the Top 30
Manufacturers Of Molecular Diagnostics For Infectious Diseases by Research Facts Ltd in 2009.
Dr Tan has more than ten years of experience in the field of life sciences which included one year at
the National Cancer Centre. Dr Tan is currently a member of the Biotechnology Advisory Committee
for the school of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and serves in the
Governing Council for Singapore Institute of Management (SIM). She was awarded the Outstanding
Science Alumni Award from the National University of Singapore in 2006.
