I have tried to install the thematic map shape file for country boundaries into a postgis database but get a bad SRID error. I use the follwing line to create the sql file to be read in with psql:

shp2pgsql -I -s 4326 -W "LATIN1" TM_WORLD_BORDERS-0.3.shp country_geos > shape_data.sql

This results in a "invalid SRID" error and no data is loaded. In the .prj file it uses WGS-1984 which I though went with the 4326 SRID.

As this is my first attempt to use the thematic mapping dataset, and postgis for that matter I appreciate any help you can provide.

OK, As I said I am new to this so please be patient with me. I found the cause of my issue was I had not loaded the projection data into the database so when it tried to look up the 4326 code it failed.  After running the postgis script provided I was able to load this data successfully.
