ARTSPACE London is hosting a solo show for the great contemporary egyptian artist Adel El Siwi.
This show is not to be missed!

Adel El Siwi is a prominent figure in the Middle Eastern art world. He is collected by the Guggenheim Museum and the British Museum. He was the selected artist for the Egyptian Pavilion in the Venice Biennial twice, once in 1997 and another time in 2009.

Born in Beheira in 1952, Egyptian painter Adel El Siwi first studied medicine in the early 1970’s before seriously considering a career as a painter.  Like other Egyptian artists of the late 1970s, El Siwi, who had emigrated to Europe and North America, was compelled to return to the motherland, drawn by the power of Egypt's legacy of art aesthetic achievement. In 1980 he moved to Milan only to return to Cairo in 1990 where he currently lives and works. His work has been exhibited all over the world, in Germany, in Lebanon, in Italy etc.

This exhibition has two significant themes: “One theme is highly focused on human faces- with Pharaonic and African features alongside an attempt to deal with the Oriental Regality especially in the two Ottoman Princesses.  The other theme is focused on fables, in which my passion for animals is highly revealed.” Adel El Siwi, 2013

Artspace is located on 7 Milner street, London SW3 2QA.

This exhibition will be open until January 20th, 2014

Feel free to contact Lana Bdeir Al-Yawer the director of the gallery directly for a private viewing on la...@artspace-London.com otherwise, the gallery's opening hours are: Tues-Fri 11am to 6pm and Sat 11am to 4pm.
