theworldiswithus.org
The Palestine Film Foundation invites you to join preeminent scholars,
filmmakers, painters, and curators for an evening exploring the nature of
revolutionary art in light of the current exhibition ’The World is
With Us’.
With presentations by Prof. Charles Tripp (SOAS, Politics
and International Studies), Mona Saudi (sculptor and
founder of the PLO’s Plastic Arts Section), and Dan
Walsh (creator of the Palestine Poster Project Archives). Chaired
by Dina Matar (SOAS, Centre for Media and Film
Studies).
Presentations will be followed by a screening of two extremely rare works
of radical left cinema made in the midst of the Palestinian revolution:
Kassem Hawal’s Our Small Houses (made for the PFLP
in 1974) and Palestine Another Vietnam by Colectivo de
Cine del Tercer Mundo (1971).
After the screenings, Jorge Denti, founding member of
Colectivo de Cine del Tercer Mundo will take part in a screen talk about
Palestine Another Vietnam and the relationships the film hints at between
Palestinian and Latin American resistance projects in the early 1970s.
