Hi. Have just seen Peter on ABC Compass which I taped a while back.
We are very moved to do something to help and have been researching
this. Have sponsored a child in Peru through World Vision for last 10
years but interested in helping with the worlds poorest now. A thought
I have had for a few years now is about Christmas time in my family.
I am tired of all the useless gifts both given and recieved by adults
in our family. I really want to approach my family about redirecting
this money into a more meaningful project such as as helping a village
or getting fresh water or a well or something. Any ideas how I can
structure this to make it easy for them to get involved? I think they
need something personal and tangible to see results of the project.
Bah humbug!

This Father's Day we sat with our 13 yo son and went online at the
website:-

http://trans.worldvision.com.au/Smiles/GiftCatalogue/Default.aspx

and we together learnt about where the money normally spent on gifts
may go to.

We then selected an appropriate amount and from the relevant items and
that was his Father's Day Gift to me and projects that World Vision
can put the money towards.

Just wanted to say thank you. This is exactly what I was looking!
Will do this with family and friends for Christmas. Thanks again for
passing on the info.
