1. In both cases, the registry entries mentioned by mrpink are not created.
2. PsExec severely cripples the save option (haven't tested anything else), with runas all works fine.
A little follow-up:
Running with restricted privileges using runas:
runas /trustlevel:0x20000 PhotoFiltre7.exe
Your mileage may vary. Try runas /showtrustlevels to find out what levels are available and choose Limited or Basic User. It started PhotoFiltre without Admin rights on my box.
Another more robust option using Sysinternal's PsExec:
psexec -l PhotoFiltre7.exe
About PhotoFiltre7 itself: Still has it's quirky way of doing some things, but the layers are a great and very appreciated addition! Imho it's the cream on the cake and it's by far one of the tastiest freeware cakes eh graphic editors out there.
@Dany: I've just run a new copy of the English zip portable version from my Desktop, using the default .ini file. RegFromApp reported nothing and double clicking the .exe directly produced no Registry alerts. Regedit showed none of the listed entries, with or without PhotoFiltre 7 running (in Windows 7, 32 bit, fully patched).
@Foot: Strange. On my end the registry entries remained, whether PhotoFiltre was running or not.
Whereas on your end they're either not created or somehow removed.
So I removed all PhotoFiltre related entries from my registry and fired up PhotoFiltre7 from within RegFromApp. Same story, the keys mentioned by mrpink are added again.

@Emka: I first ran PhotoFiltre 7 through RegFromApp which showed no Registry activity at all (in Win 7 Professional, 32 bit). When I launched it through a Magic Formation shortcut, my security software queried several Registry changes. I accepted these because stealth operation is not essential for me. I recall that some of the changes were similar to those mentioned by mrpink. During that run, I set my application preferences through the Preferences dialog.
After mrpink's posting, I checked for the listed Registry entries and found none of them. I checked again after your posting on 2012-01-10 and found none, even with PhotoFiltre 7 running. Searching the Registry for "photofiltre" reveals some mentions through security applications but none of the entries listed by mrpink.

PhotoFiltre Studio news describes v6.5.3 of PhotoFiltre (freeware version) as a last update of version 6 "for users ... allergic to layers". A new freeware version 7 is available for download at -studio.com/pf7-en.htm.
The site advises that "PhotoFiltre 7 is developed with the core PhotoFiltre Studio to support layers and to improve the filters. There are less functions compared to PhotoFiltre Studio X which remains the most advanced version! PhotFiltre 7 is freeware for private uses (including non-profit organizations)."
I downloaded the installer and installed on my PC. Then I copied the installed folder and tried to follow the instructions on "How to extract". I couldn't find any of the files or folders mentioned. How do I make this portable?
Somewhere between Windows paint program and the free GIMP editor, this program lets you do the basics and then take them a step further. Great for doing quick, simple web graphics or photo touch ups. Additionally, very kind to system resources for older computers, using only 4 megs of RAM.
This program has some nice selection, color, and filter/blur effect possibilities. Overall, a very useful tool for quick edits.
Some additional plugins didn't work when loaded, but perhaps
that was a problem with an earlier version of the program.

It would be nice to have layers included but for free it's great.
The only bugbear I found with it is that I cannot see the brush size on the picture, that makes things VERY difficult when you need precision.
On the whole it makes me miss my photoshop.
If you have the the space I'd recommend GIMP but this comes a good second

Hint: You can download the French version zip file and extract it to the folder of your choice. Then, separately download the English (or any other) language file and extract it to the application directory. This will avoid the install/uninstall process.
A portable application can be run from a removable drive (USB flash drive, iPod, portable hard drive, etc) on any Windows computer without installation.
You will carry the program with settings on removable drive and don't modify settings on host computer.
On Vista and above turn off User Account Control (UAC) or run launcher as admin.
Extract and run PhotoFiltreStudioPortable.
Not registered but unlimited trial (always 30 days remaining)
If you have a key: write Registered=true in PhotoFiltreStudioPortable.ini, launch and Register.
Register again on a new computer, each registration stored in Data.
If you drag'n drop a file on (or open with) PhotoFiltreStudioPortable: it will be opened in PhotoFiltreStudio.
Settings of installed PhotoFiltreStudio should be preserved.
