Twenty-four-year old Carlos Agassi has only four percent body fat. He does
bend over rows with 300 pounds of weights and he can do lateral pull downs
with 12 repetitions, in good form, using 300 pounds. He does seven
abdominal workouts with each exercise consisting of a set of two minutes.
And usually each of his ab exercises have three sets each.
Such workout has resulted in making Carlos Agassi’s abs look like they were
chiseled by a professional sculptor. They are not just silhouettes you
usually see on a person who sucks the air from his tummy to reveal his abs.
Rather, they looked like a relief art work that protrudes from his body.
His diet consists of mostly protein food, less and sometimes no
carbohydrates and no fat. Now for you readers, up for a proactive
challenge, the question is, to look good this summer "Kaya Mo Ba ‘To?"
Loosely translated in English it means "Can you do it?" But the above
question is more of a dare to anyone brave enough for a challenge that’s
humanly possible and fun. It is also Carlos’ latest show onABS-CBN that
will start airing this Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
"Kaya Mo Ba ’to?" is a farcry from his controversial "Victims" and "Victims
Extreme" shows wherein he "fooled" a lot of celebrities. Tailored like
Music Television’s "Punked" and the legendary "Candid Camera," Carlos’
"Victims" angered a number of showbiz personalities who didn’t find humor
in being embarrassed in front of a hidden camera. This time around, instead
of hiding, Carlos is always present especially in asking his guests their
challenge or dare in front of the camera. He will also have an interaction
with his sidekicks like Chokoleit who will deal with challenges concerning
live animals; KitKat who will oversee a "kikay segment," Viva Hotbabe’s
Ellah V on sexy challenges and J.E. Sison on "papogian segments."
"This time around, everyone knows everything. From the managers to the
actors involved…this is really a fun and exciting show for our audience. We
also came out with different segments para sa lahat. I now interact with my
co-hosts unlike sa ‘Victims" na mag-isa lang ako," revealed Carlos.
"Kaya Mo Ba ‘To?" was spawned by the "death" of "Victims Extreme." The
show’s end was inevitable since it was exhausting to come out with a lot of
ideas for a daily show. Though their show fell "victim" to the network’s
decision to replace them with a soap opera, Carlos and his staff were still
intact. They were offered a timeslot for a show and the challenge was for
them to come out with one. They did and "Kaya Mo Ba Ito?" came into life.
"We still have different ideas and somehow they fall into the type of ‘Fear
Factor’ and ‘Who Dares Win.’ So that’s how we came out with a fun show that
will keep you to your seats and will keep you laughing," said Carlos.
A rundown of sampling of different "Kaya Mo Ba ‘To?" challenges are: Carlos
Agassi kissing Gretchen Baretto’s lips. But the catch is, the lips talked
about is one of Gretchen’s humongous billboard wherein he should climb to
the top of the billboard and lower himself to the level of Gretchen’s lips
and kiss her.
"I’m afraid of heights. You’ll notice that my biceps were all flexed
because I was holding tight to the ropes. But I conquered my fear of
heights in that segment and I kissed Gretchen’s lips, sa billboard nga
lang," he added.
Then there’s the challenge of staying in a pig pen by stand-up comedian
Chokoleit, shopping for a bathing suit in a mall while wearing only a
two-piece swimwear by KitKat, getting a massage from chicks walking all
over your body by Ella V and shaving people’s eyebrows and asking them to
move them up and down by E.J.
The show also welcomes letter senders who would want to pose a challenge to
their friends or to celebrities. And the possibilities are limitless
according to Carlos. Of course all challenges are well supervised and in
very daring feats, safety has always been the show’s priority.
"Let’s say it’s your first time or you want to conquer your fear. Or you
want to challenge yourself like if you want to break a world record or you
want to challenge somebody, we will welcome you in this show," he said.
Carlos Agassi also holds a new position with "Kaya Mo Ba ‘To?." He now
holds the Creative Director title.
"Basically I still do what I used to do in ‘Victims.’ I just have more
responsibilities now and I have to come out with more concepts and ideas
for our show…this is the kind of show which I think is an escape from the
usual norms of comedy, drama and comedy. It is reality…I’m young and I can
just imagine yung mga kalokohan ko sa mga kaibigan ko that if they are well
executed sa harap ng camera they’ll be nice to watch. It feels nice to work
hard on a show."
With "Kaya Mo Ba ‘To?" in an afternoon timeslot, wherein children, teens,
yayas and the young at heart may be watching, the show’s thrust is to have
fun with all the challenges imposed on their guests. Carlos added that they
would do away with situations that would irked their participants like what
transpired in "Victims."
"Ayaw na nating ma-brand na negative. We want to be a positive show and we
want our viewers smiling afterwards. Kung negative ka baka wala kang
makuhang advertisers na magsupport sa yo."
Carlos is more than happy with his career. He is back to what he loves best
hosting a show like "Kaya Mo Ba ‘To?" Then he shows his versatility as an
artist as he does comedy in "Bora" with his co-Hunks partners Piolo
Pascual, Diether Ocampo and his hosting and singing skills every Sunday in
"A.S.A.P." He is also US-bound with The Hunks, having performances in such
places as Arizona, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.
He also admitted that his years of experience in show business has also
raised his level of maturity. So whenever his shows get axed or he hears
criticisms, he is more than ready and strong to face and handle them.
"Usually the people you love are the ones who are affected. They are the
ones who react on your behalf. Basically what I do is that I do my job
well, I give my best and as long as I don’t hurt anyone or step on anyone,
that’s’ fine with me. At the end of the day I’m happy. I just can’t based
my performance on others’ perception and criticism of me otherwise I won’t
be happy and I won’t anymore what is good or bad," he explained.
So what has kept Carlos Agassi consitent with his workout?
"When you’re working out from 30 minutes to an hour you produce happy
hormones called enorphines so basically you’re happy the whole day."
What’s next in mind for Carlos Agassi is to direct his own reality TV show
someday!
