In my previous post, I mentioned how i've been housebound for 18
years. I was 24 when I first became agoraphobic. My son's were both
babies at the time. Oldest being just five years old and youngest
three. I had four brothers before my second youngest brother died at
the age of 29. I'd never been able to visit any of their homes and it
was something I always regretted.

My brother died in 2003 and left behind a three year old daughter and
five year old son. Coincidence?

Anyway, on with my next experience :)

On the day of my brother's funeral, I couldn't get there. But his very
last wish was that his ashes be spread on my Dad's grave. I promised
faithfully I would see that was done.

My husband and my oldest son (now aged sixteen years) attended the
funeral on my behalf. I called afterwards to make sure everything was
fine and my three year old niece answered the call. I asked if she was
okay and she said yeah. She seemed fine, as if she didn't really
understand what was going on. When my sis in law came to the phone,
she was quite stunned and told me something which blew me away. She
said during the wake, my niece was in the living room watching TV
while the adults were in the kitchen talking. My sis in law went into
the living room to make sure the kids were okay and she saw Paige
sitting beside a chair, laughing and giggling while staring into a
table-lamp. Sis in law asked Paige what she was doing and received the
reply 'I'm laughing at Daddy. He's making funny faces at me!'

My sis in law looked into the table-lamp and suddenly got the warmest
feeling. She claims the atmosphere became suddenly quiet and
peaceful....but couldn't see the faces my brother was pulling at
Paige. She smiled at Paige and walked out of the room. As she was
leaving, she turned back and saw Paige giggling and sticking her
tongue out at the lamp, heard her say 'Daddy stop it!' then burst into
giggles again...

A few days later, I had the weirdest dream. I was desperate to see my
nephew and niece and it had been on my mind since Barry died. The
dream started off with my brother standing before me. I didn't have to
say anything, he took me by the hand and told me to follow him. Next
thing I know, we were walking up this street i'd never seen before.
There was no gardens, just doors to houses. We came to the end house
and he walked inside, still holding my hand. At the back of the house,
he told me to go into a room. I went in and saw my sis in law in the
far corner of the room, folding laundry. She didn't look at me as I
sat down on a brown suede sofa. She just got on with what she was
doing...

I turned to look at the doorway where my brother stood, he smiled, and
walked out the door. I jumped up and shouted 'Barry! Wait!' but by the
time I got to the door he was gone. My niece Paige came running in the
front door and stopped short when she saw me. 'Aunty Vee!' she cried,
running forward and grabbing me by the hand. She dragged me into the
street and we were both laughing as she told me to chase her. I
started running and she was dodging me, laughing and giggling as I
reached forward to grab her. This went on for a while until I suddenly
stopped and told her I had to go. I tried to explain that I needed to
go because 'i'm about to wake up.' Her face dropped and she started
crying. As I started to walk down the street, her screams became
louder and I looked back to see my sis in law keeping hold her of as
she struggled to get away, shouting for me all the time. I had to turn
away because by this time I was in floods of tears.

Suddenly I felt myself falling softly. Not the 'thud' you hear people
talk about when they have an OBE, but a soft light thud. And I woke up
feeling happy and sad at the same time. What a dream!

Later that morning, I called my sis in law for a chat. I asked how the
kids were and she told me Paige wasn't in a good mood because she'd
had a bad dream about me. I asked what it was and she put Paige onto
the phone. Paige told me she wasn't my friend because 'I was playing
with you in the street, but you had to go and I was crying. Mammy
stopped me from coming with you and you just went home and wouldn't
stay here'.

I was stunned. Lost for words. We'd both had the same dream? I told
Paige I needed to speak to Mammy and she put her back on. I asked sis
in law to listen while I described the house i'd been in. My sis in
law was shocked. She told me that everything i'd just described was
her street and her house....the set-out of her furniture, the colour
of her sofa...it was all exactly how i'd described it. I told her
about the dream and she was as shocked as I was. We're both convinced
my brother came and took me to his house. He knew I was desperate to
see those kids and the only way I could do it was, unconsciously.

Another true story. Can't be proved I realise. But it's something i'll
never forget. Was it an astral projection or wishful thinking? You
decide :)
