Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the info. I'm going to post it on our blog if you don't
mind. I did want to clarify that I don't think this is the *first
hackerspace in China. We had some visitors from another hackerspace in
Shanghai back in October: http://xinchejian.com/
It's a very cool opportunity though, I hope we'll get at least a few
submissions from Philly!

They're organizing a "maker carnival" that seems to have some significant support to bring people in from around the world. Instructions to apply are below, but essentially you would make a video/link to introduce the project you want to make in China, all the projects will go up for a vote, and the 20 best win. Let me know if you want to talk more. See you soon!

That's so funny! It is in fact that same people (at least from what I know)! I met Ricky and Min during some work in Budapest this past summer. Their space, as you might know, grew out of a coworking space also in Shanghai called Xindanwei and I'm pretty sure it's the whole group that is behind the event (which will include awesome people like Mitch Altman). Go Team(s) Philly!

Oh awesome, good to know. Yeah Min and Ricky visited our space in
October as part of their tour of US hackerspaces.
Right on!
