I am sure we are all very sad to hear that Governor Baker’s veto of parts of the state budget that included “the infanticide bill” was overridden by the state legislature yesterday. Also, sadly, the Governor had only vetoed certain line items of this egregious legislation anyway. Considering what has been gradually happening spiritually in our state government for many, many years and now is turning into an avalanche, it would have been a miracle if the veto had been upheld. However, we are people who believe in miracles. We are praying for miracles. Thank you, Pastor Hanlon, for keeping us informed of what is going on in our state and reminding us to pray and be involved.
It is clear we need awakening to the reality of our Lord Jesus Christ among our government leaders and revival in the churches across our country when we look at the kinds of things that are being legislated, touted, and ignored.
I was encouraged today to receive this message from ReNew Massachusetts:
The pressure you brought on the legislature did produce changes. Originally, the Planned-Parenthood-backed legislation would have:
- removed parental consent for girls of all ages not just 16 and 17 year-olds;
- allowed dangerous late-term abortions to be performed in ill-equipped clinics instead of hospitals; and
- increased the amount of tax-payer funds used to pay for abortions.
We forced them to remove all of these provisions!
There are a number of groups in Massachusetts with which we may align that will help us know how we can support bringing the gospel to our government.
Finally, I have been thinking a lot about a quote attributed to Winston Churchill and want to encourage us all to apply it to the proclamation of the Kingdom of God in this world.
“Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in…”
