Apologies for the hieroglyphics in our last message due to some unknown issue with Google groups on the day.
Quick update: We have over 100 people booked so far for our show 'Blooming Ulysses' on June 16 and we ask your help in spreading the word as
GLAS always delivers a great night out while supporting a worthwhile cause, and in this case we will donate the proceeds to humanitarian relief in the Gaza Strip through the Palestinian Red Crescent Society which has lost many of its staff and volunteers in attacks carried out by the Israeli Defence Forces. We would also like to encourage young people with an interest in literature to come along so we are reducing the price for students to just CHF10. Let them know.
GLAS kicked off twenty years ago with a tribute to James Joyce and this year we are celebrating June 16, 1904, the day on which the great novel Ulysses takes place. It is now known as 'Bloomsday' in honour of the lead character Leopold Bloom, the wandering Jew of Dublin in whom Joyce invested so much of his own humanity and sense of humour.
GLAS has seen and loved this show. As the Sunday Independent review noted it's 'Delightful...a full mischievous celebration of life.' The Sunday Times declared 'hats off' to actor Gerry Fleming in one scene where he 'delivers an extraordinary stream of consciousness....triggered by the mundane act of turning on a tap.'
Prepare yourself for a very special evening in the hands of a wonderful actor, Gerry Fleming, who is normally to be found performing in Dublin or the US on Bloomsday but this year he's making an exception for GLAS.
