A night of 'mesmering magic' from GLAS on January 29

Dear friends of GLAS,

Does anything compare with being immersed in a rivetting piece of live performance? That's why GLAS has been bringing theatre to Geneva for the last 20 years with the added bonus that we use the proceeds to support good causes like the Gaza School of Music. 

 'The Humours of Bandon' has delighted audiences at the Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe Festivals and toured extensively in the US where the Washington Post praised  the 'mesmerising magic' of Margaret McAuliffe's performance as Annie, a 16-year old with a childhood passion for Irish dancing that threatens to overwhelm her life.

OPENING ACT

As we celebrate 20 years of GLAS we are delighted to host 'Friends Help You Move' from the Geneva English Drama Society (GEDS) which will kick off the evening. This one act, black comedy, written and directed by John Ward, won Best Original Script at the FEATS 2024 festival ofEuropean Theatre and a best actor nomination for Daire O'Doherty who stars alongside John Ward and Will Fihn Ramsay.

BENEFICIARY:

Proceeds from the evening will go to the Gaza School of Music, a branch of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, which continues to teach music and singing to thousands of children trying to find something good in a life that has become precarious and traumatic in the midst of mass killing, hunger, ethnic cleansing and mindless destruction of housing, health facilities and other critical infrastructure. The school building has been severely damaged with the loss of over 400 musical instruments. Since 2016, with your generosity, we have raised over CHF40,000 to support the musical education of children aged 6-18 but since since the war funds raised have gone towards supporting outreach and activities for displaced children.
