Dear friends of GLAS,

There is still ticket availability for a great new piece of theatre, King, from the Dublin-based Fishamble Theatre  company.  The show stars Pat Kinevane who won an Olivier award for Silent which we staged here twelve years ago.

The box office and refreshments including beverages and empanadas will be available from 19.00 and the bar will close 15 minutes before the performance commences at 20.00.  No food or drink are allowed in the auditorium. Please make sure you turn off your phones before the show starts.  All proceeds will go to support the Gaza School of Music, a branch of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, which GLAS has been supporting since 2016.

King tells the story of Luther, a man from Cork named in honour of his grandmother's hero, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Luther only leaves his apartment for essential journeys, and to perform as an Elvis impersonator. The play explores prejudice, privilege, and resilience, as Luther struggles to live life to the full. It was named Pick of the Fringe at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The critics have been fulsome in their praise for Pat Kinevane's acting: 'Brilliant' - Irish Times; 'Extraordinary' - New York Times; 'Stunning' - Scotsman; 'Dazzliing' - The Guardian; and 'Mesmerising' - Sydney Morning Herald.
