where does one start after a january like that!?!! its been a
fantastic start to 07 for us here in frames hq. glen and marketa went
off to sundance film festival a week or so ago to see how 'once' got
on and do a bit of a gig/busk here and there in keeping with the
spirit of the film. well, the reaction to the film was overwhelming
from both critics and audience alike and it ended up winning the
audience award for best world cinema dramatic film! so - hats off to
all involved and well done! the buzz and the build was palpable all
week, you could even feel it from here in wexford, and i think
everyones nuts are still spinning. the bottom line is that the film
will now, more than likely, get a world wide release at some point
this year (my gut says around autumn time) with a major distributor.
there will of course be a bit of a soundtrack too, to accompany the
movie release. as those of you in the know, will already know, the
swell season record features 3 songs from the film (falling slowly,
when your minds made up and leave) as does the frames album come to
think of it (2 tracks) - but the forthcoming soundtrack album will
include a good few tunes more from glen and marketa that have not made
it out there yet onto a record. ill keep you posted as to how it all
pans out of course.

the film release date in ireland is slated for 23rd march, and i think
that will stay put. the rest of the world will have to follow
irelands lead!!

lads have now just landed in munich for the first gig of the european
tour. they are fully equipped with woolly hats and jumpers and vests
as it could get a little chilly out there....

.....back to dublin, give your dirty laundry to mammy, girlfriend,
launderette or for the enlightened member, do it yourself... repack
the bag, check your usa visas are in order, change all your czech
krowns to dollars, throw in your swimming trunks and leave your woolly
hats at home then head for texas!

15th/16th/17th march will see the frames in austin texas as part of
the fabulous south by south west music festival. right this second we
are still putting the finishing touches to a round of parties and
shows that we've been asked to play at over the three days (tis tough
fitting them all in!) - but - looks like we'll be on around 10pm in
antones as part of the billions showcase on the 16th march. thatll be
probably the only club date proper. the rest as i say will be a mix of
parties. the friday day time looks like we'll be at the no depression
and paste parties. the thursday could see us at the soundcheck party.
any other bits that get confirmed for sure, ill get donal to put them
up on the tour page.

after that, we all come back home. glen will have film stuff in
ireland to promote, then its back out to america for the following
dates which are very nearly written in stone....ill let you know
support when its firm. as we get more details in about these shows,
donal will be adding links to the clubs and times and stuff onto the
tour page. sorry if we dont get to your home town this tour
around...we WILL be back in september to try to cover all the bases
that we dont have time to do now.....

for All Songs Considered. This will take place from 9:30 Club in DC
on April 26th. :0)

other film/dvd news - some friends of ours flew their two microlights
around various large parts of the globe (mainly up africa and over the
top of greenland) and filmed their extensive and beautiful and scary
and exhilarating experiences. as they only took a couple of cds with
them for company, and one of them was fitzcarraldo, the frames ended
up as part of the soundtrack for some of the movie and we have all
become firm friends. they've just released it to the world out of
their home countries of south africa and sweden and its well worth
checking out if you are into microlights/adventure/beautiful scenery
etc.
