Cc: Kenya Team <keny...@twaweza.org>Dear Friends and Followers of Uwezo,
On behalf of Twaweza East Africa, I am pleased to invite you to the launch of the Uwezo Kenya annual assessment report which will take place on 15 December 2016 from 8.30 am – 12.30 pm at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.
The report findings are drawn from the 2015 household-based assessment, in which 130,653 children were assessed in literacy and numeracy. The 2015 report is unique because for the first time in the Uwezo assessment, we included a survey of private primary schools.
The report highlights five key facts about education;
- Learning levels are still low
- The teacher/classrooms (stream) ratio is low and disparate
- There is a close connection between the distribution of teachers and learning outcomes
- Learning outcomes are lower in: rural areas, arid areas and poorer households
- Policies around running of pre-schools are not followed
Kindly confirm your availability to me through bot...@twaweza.org or to Izel Kipruto through ikip...@twaweza.org by Friday 9 December 2016.
Please find attached the invitation letter.
