Cross-platform support is becoming more important in the world of video games. Multiplayer hits like Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Fortnite have pushed crossplay into the limelight, and now most AAA multiplayer games release with at least partial cross-platform support. Finding every cross-platform game is no easy feat, though, so we did the hard work to bring you a comprehensive list of games that support crossplay.
Fallout 5 hasn't officially been announced yet but, with renewed interest in the postapocalyptic series thanks to the new Amazon-produced Fallout TV show, we're starting to hear more and more rumors about the new Wasteland adventure.

So, I run a Nitrado server since before the crossplay. Can xbox join my server? My son wants to play with us on xbox but my server does not come up in the que even with the unofficial tab selected. Aslo, we run mods so how does that work?
As far as I know xboxers can't do the mods yet, so maybe that's why your server is a no show. Although I used to play on private servers when I first started and they both disappeared from my list never to be seen by me again, after starting over twice I stuck to the official.
Especially with how steam will just release a mod but it would take probably months to get a mod approved for console. Since we are doing crossplay that means that the pc people would no longer get mods as well until Microsoft approved them.
I've played atlas since release on pc and now i'm playing on xbox too, and tbh I've never used mods anyway so I wouldn't be missing anything. The only mod I was ever tempted to download was the graph mod that gave you extra and better looking buildings and items.
For example auto villager queue is completely broken in lower elos and gives massive advantage to controller player even with all the remaining disadvantages, but this is entirely reversed at higher elo where auto villager queue is not meaningful factor and controller has virtually no possibility of playing in even field.
I take myself as example. If I play 4v4 and I get control player on my team or against, I lose interest of playing the game. Why? There is nothing fun beating down someone who has massive disadvantage or playing in team like that
RTS is a niche genre with small playerbase and this its on its main platform which is PC. Now when compared to console its even more niche those resulting minor amount of players actually getting into it. This is fact.
Crossplay in AI games or custom games has no effect on anyone else other than those who play in game so its not problem and I got nothing against it, but moment its introduced to multiplayer then there is big issues.
None of them are minor.
As an example. TG ranked was introduced like 2-3 seasons ago and yet devs have not addressed the issue of 2 separate matchmaking pools which made match balance worse in QM and Ranked and same will happen with crossplay unless they decide to take easy way out and offer opt out from cross play for both parties.
If you bothered to read my post, you would know that I got nothing against on system which enables crossplay in custom games or AI games or allows both KBM / controller players to opt out from mixed matchmaking in PvP matches.
I stand with my feedback which was and is based on facts how crossplay acts in online matchmaking environment and is bad idea, but for PvE games its completely fine or if they allow KBM / controller players opt out from mixed matchmaking thats fine too.
Agree, add he features that AoE2 console edition has and the community will be happy - including this request. I know many, many people on multiple mediums asking for it. No idea what Mr Word Soup is going on about up there
When it comes to ranked, console players who use a controller only will generally (in average) naturally be placed a little lower in elo/rank than pc players of a similar skill level, due to disadvanteges of the controller and the UI vs keyboard+mouse.
So, there is no problem when it comes to team ranked.
At the same elo, console players will be a little bit more skilled but handicapped by their devices, so it evens out.
The HUGE (!) bonus of the crossplay would obviously be the extended community.
The larger the players pool, the better the experience for players and the easier it is to get matches at even ranks/elo and especially shorten queue-timings.
In all seriousness tho, I feel like de might make plat specific to one platform similarly to other games like Fortnite, but considering cross save is taking so long it's possible they are trying really hard to avoid that outcome.
?
you probably didn't get it, but what I mean is that as soon as it becomes possible to send gifts between platforms, then immediately everyone will start buying platinum at a discount on PC through their second accounts, friends or in other ways and then give themselves gifts, and all this bypassing the vendor's store
what does this mean for vendors? loss of income
I suspect that once cross-save is enabled, players will have their platinum balances separated between platforms (similar to how Silver is separated between platforms on Destiny 2's cross-save). Likewise, gifting and trading will probably be restricted to other users who are currently playing on the same platform (i.e. if a PC and Xbox user want to trade, the PC player would need to load their game up on an Xbox or the Xbox player would need to load up their account on a PC).
I feel like if the game was updated maybe they could add cross-platform. But as far as im aware the game is abandoned on console with the lack of communication on forums and livestreams and the fact console hasn't gotten a update in a min. To be real i feel like console is treated like a cash cow for some company's. Hope humankinds devs won't make the same the civ and ck3 did with there games being broken or behind. Here's to hoping for a good year for humankind on console.
They will likely never add crossplay. As you can tell from all their social media accounts, they do not care about putting effort into the console version. They actively ignore ALL comments about updating the console version of the game to ever be up to date with the PC version.
Cross-play will be enabled by default when you start the game for the first time on PS5 or Xbox Series XS. On Xbox Series XS, cross-play settings are controlled through the system settings. On PS5, these settings are found in the in-game settings.
The method for disabling cross-play differs by platform. On Xbox Series XS, this must be done through the console system settings. On PS5, players can opt out of cross-play through the in-game settings.
Players who opt in to cross-play will automatically be added to the cross-play matchmaking pool. Cross-play invites will be available in select multiplayer modes that support inviting friends from your own platform. Players across all supported platforms can invite and play against each other.
For players who opt in to cross-play, any leaderboard in any mode that supports cross-play will be a global leaderboard that includes players from all supported platforms. Players who opt out of cross-play will only see leaderboards for players on their own platform.
Note: Cross-play availability can potentially be impacted on a platform by platform basis by things like planned or unplanned maintenance, server releases, Title Updates, unexpected downtime, or matchmaking updates.
So I'm thinking of getting a console to play minecraft with my friends. So far, my friends have ps4 and play minecraft like that, but I don't really wanna spend the money to get a ps4. I have an old xbox 360 that still works and I can get minecraft on that, but would I be able to play with my friends on the ps4 if I have the xbox360 version of minecraft? I know they recently updated minecraft to the bedrock edition, so we can play cross platform, but does that still stand for an older model of the xbox?
Bedrock Edition a completely different code written in C++ which is performance optimized for the in general weaker Mobile phones (This is the Edition that comes to all Mobile Devices, most modern consoles). This Version is as far as I know the same as the Windows 10 edition [here originated most of the confusion between bedrock and Java]
Unless you are playing the SAME EDITION you cannot play together with others. Meaning you should be able to play with the PS4 community with your mobile phone or tablet, since both devices mainly operate on the bedrock edition.
So, to make this task easier on you, we at Windows Central have decided to put together a list of every single Xbox game that supports cross-play and the extent of their cross-platform capabilities so you can more easily pick out the best Xbox games to play with your friends on other platforms.
However, some games require players to create a third-party account outside of Microsoft accounts to cross-play online like EA Play for example. So to keep things simple and easy to understand, we have compiled our list of cross-play-compatible Xbox games to include which platforms they can cross-play with and if a game is available on Xbox Game Pass.
