I've seen some discussions about being able to turn off SMB1 for networked paradox.  Anyone tried?

It is a bit sketchy.

SMB1 was off (MS turned it off) or no longer exists on all the systems I support. These are all Windows systems and use local file shares.

Most people ask how to ENABLE it or put it back (many legacy medical devices seem to use it).

Several people report no issues not using it.

No one (here) has reported a Paradox system failing without it (that I have seen).  Anyone?

There was discussion on how it affects Linux and SQL, but nothing absolute.

If you have in your machine and it is enabled, you can turn if off and test.

I think the discussions are to turn it back on, and turn the newer stuff off.. I know we've done that a few times over the past couple of years

I'm now working on a Win10 PC and there are no registry keas for smb (and Pdox 9 work [nearly] without problems).

Here's how to enable / disable the smb1
The way is the same for W10 / W11

Within the described Method 1 in step 5
- disable the SMB1.0/CIFS automatic removal
- enable SMB1.0/CIFS for both (Client and Server)
and save it.

Look for some information e.g. the site:

With regedit (or OPAL) you can set it with the value:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
value
        "SMB1"
data
        1

And at least, there's a site, where apps can be added, which needs smb1 for usage.

I don't know, why Corel don't mention Paradox there. They still sale it.

Remark: It's not clear, how it'll looks like under Win12. I've read something, that there should exist a Virtual Win7, which can be used for older Win.apss (I don't know any other details).
Has anybody a clue, or information (e.g. source code) about the differences between smb1 and smb2?

Just another questions related to smb1:

1) I've done a look to smb1 description (what it does). As I see it, MS could make a "small fix" for smb1, to restrict it at least for LANs (solve the security problems). But I don't think, they will, as long Corel (or Allude - or whoever) will not care about it.
smb1-problems (security) could happen rather to web-solutions. but I don't use pdox for web. For web-access I'd wrote (some years ago) my own .net exe-enhancement, which I call as exe-file (execute it), when I need access ouside of LAN (e.g. download something from web).

2) Has someone tried to use pdox under windows on apple (mac)? Does it work? Could it be something usable, if W12 will make "unsolvable" problems?
