So, I haven't heard back from Larry about the fact that neither the web groups nor the nntp server are responding.

The domain expires on 17 Oct 2025, and unless something unexpected happens, I'm going to let the domain expire (and use the money to buy eggs - I figure I might be able to get a dozen or so).

I will keep paradoxcommunity.com until I die or can't afford domains at all, and already have a note on its home page pointing people to this google group.

If ever Larry gets back to me and packages things up so that we can have downloads of the groups, I'll put those on the paradoxcommunity.com site with links to the downloads.

If anyone else has ever had email communication with Larry and wants to give it a try to see if your email is received, please do. :)

Liz

Oh shoot.  I missed these.  Let me take a look.  Should have a response this week.

For some reason, it doesn't look like I can post here directly.  My messages just keep showing as deleted right after I post them, so here goes.

PNEWS is back up, news and web interface.  Not sure why it went down.

I can zip up the news messages, which are just text files all jammed together in about 50 files.  Zipped up it's about 90 MB.

Google groups are deleting all my posts.  Not sure what’s up with that.

Pnews and pnewsweb are back up.

I have a zip file with the news messages.  It’s about 90 mb.  It’s basically a bunch of .itm files with messages just concatenated.  You’d have to parse them back into groups/threads.

Trying to post again, apologies if this is a duplicate.

The NNTP and web are back up, server needed a restart.

For the newsgroup content, I can zip up the /var/spool/dnews/spool/ directory, which contains all of the raw messages in .itm files, which are just text files with messages jammed in in posting order.  The zip is about 91MB.

Restarted the host, and newsgroups are back up, including web interface.

I can zip up the news messages in native dnews format (piles), which are just text files with messages all jammed together in post order.  It's about 91MB.

I see indication that three messages were deleted, but can't see content or more than that.  Other messages from you were pending approval - no idea why (the system doesn't say why).  I approved them and now they're here.  I cannot find any way to specify that an individual is approved so that their messages never get sent to pending.

I can make you a "manager", though, and then you could approve your own messages. :D
