"Pending" and "Deleted" comments

I've tried finding settings that will prevent your comments from going into "Pending" (I have to approve these) or from getting automatically deleted, and I cannot find any settings - no way to set a user to "always approved", no way even to view the deleted messages.

Here are my recommendations for reducing the probability of this happening to your posts / replies:

1. Make sure your computer clock and time zone are correct for your physical location (time differences are often a mark of spammers).

2. If you are quoting the previous comments in a thread, delete everything not absolutely necessary.

3. Instead of replying to the summary email, maybe find the specific thread you want to reply to and reply to that.

4. If you are using email to reply, disable including footers - especially if they advertise your services / website.

5. Instead of using email, come to the site.

These are the only things I can think of to try to reduce the erroneous "Pending" status and deletions.  Feel free to add any of your own suggestions to this thread - I plan to pin it so it's more visible.

Turns out I can't turn off spam filtering, so I deleted that message.  It's set to as lenient as it can be.

Also, since deleting is unpredictable, please copy messages before posting, just in case it goes into the ether!
