I didn't get to see the film yet... but in response to what was said
about the equipment (that bit about stuff getting fried by cosmic
rays), NASA had practice sending all kinds of things to the moon.
There were about 15 unmanned probes sent in the Pioneer and Ranger
missions, all had some pretty fancy equipment on board. And the same
could be said about the Luna missions from the USSR... the ones that
we know of. So we have plenty of data and pictures of the moon up
close, this started in 1958... they had 10 years to prefect the
equipment for the Apollo missions.
