Dear Parents,

Homecoming this past weekend was a great time! On Friday we had an all school pep rally. The cheerleaders cheered, the football team was honored, and the entire school showed an awesome amount of school spirit! Our 8th grade class took home the coveted St. Thecla Spirit Stick for creating and performing the best Thecla chant! We finished Homecoming Week with our big football game at Notre Dame High School. Both JV and Varsity played with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. It is great to be a Falcon!

Our teachers and students are doing great things with the iPads! Our first floor has been practicing math skills, working on spelling words, creating sentences and drawing on the iPads. The second floor has been learning about geography, studying maps, learning about the Periodic Table, and reading novels on their iPads. Impressive things are happening here at St. Thecla!

Coming home today is the CANTS (Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System) form for all school personnel and volunteers. We ask that all parents who plan on volunteering at school fill one out. Please send back ASAP.

Also coming home today are baby bottles for our annual “Spare Change Saves Babies” program. We are asking families to collect spare change in the baby bottles and return them back to school by October 28th. All proceeds go to The Women’s Centers to help with crisis pregnancy counseling, medical and social services, and material goods assistance.

Please remember to support our school by ordering Market Day. This month Market Day is running special offer for their holiday pies. If St. Thecla sells 100 pies, we will get back 30% of our order! To make this offer even more enticing, I will give students a free dress down day in November if we hit our quota of 100 pies! It's never too early to start ordering pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Some upcoming dates:

-         Virtus Training is Thursday, October 11th at 6:30PM in Moriarty Hall

-         This Friday, October 12th, Ident-a-Kid is coming to school. Information was sent home last week and will be sent home again on Thursday (10/11)

-         Our Haunted House begins this Friday, October 12th!

-         Picture Retakes is Monday, October 15th

Good luck to our 6th and 7th grade girls’ basketball teams and our football teams who play this weekend!

As always, please remember the importance of weekly Mass attendance with your children.

Sincerely,

Mr. Dan Gargano

Dear Parents,

Our Hair Razor Haunted House is open and ready to scare! We are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday before Halloween. We ask that our guests enjoy the haunted house responsibly and follow the rules while in the haunted house. We want to provide a scary, but safe environment for our workers and visitors alike!

At the end of each day, students are reminded to make sure they have everything to go home. Please speak with your children about the importance of making sure they have everything they need at the end of the school day. Students will not be allowed back into school after dismissal.

With the fall officially upon us, the temperatures are dropping. Please remember to send your children to school with a jacket for recess. Girls may wear their gym pants under their skirts on recess.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week, and here at St. Thecla we are all promising to be drug free. Students and teachers will take a stand and commit to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America. To celebrate Red Ribbon Week, Student Council will hold activities throughout the week.

Red Ribbon Week Activities

Tuesday: All School Mass/Wrapping Trees in Red Ribbons

Wednesday: Crazy Sunglasses Day: “Look at Me, I’m Drug Free”- Students who wish to participate must donate $1.00

Thursday: Drug Free poster contest
