30 Hour Famine
Friday to Saturday November 19-20 | Friday, 8:00 PM to Saturday, 7:30 PM | The Bridge Church, 12 Gates Ave, East Brunswick, NJ
Another child dies from hunger-related causes every 10 seconds. In a day, that is 8,000 kids dying every day. Hunger is seen in many parts of the world. This event is a great opportunity for the students to build a bigger world view and to experience a piece of what it feels like to live without food. The weeks leading up to the famine, the youth will be collecting donations which will be donated to World Vision (the organization in charge of the 30 hr famine) to help fight hunger. Every bit helps! The youth should have a packet with them with the money they have raised. Even if they decide to come and haven't collected donations, that is ok too! Fasting will begin on Friday at 12:30 pm and we will break fast together on Saturday at 6:30 pm, with us all having a meal together. The youth will have the option to stay over at the church, where we will have a time of worship/prayer, activities, and discussion. For the youth that are staying over, please bring: sleeping bag/pillow, toiletries, change of clothes, Bible,and their donation packet. The next day, we will be doing a few community service projects before breaking fast. Please email Howie to let us know if your youth will be participating with us on Friday and Saturday or part of the day, so we can get an approximate head count and plan accordingly. Winter Clothing Drive
We’ll be collecting donated winter items in good repair at our church starting this Sunday (11/21). In addition to donations, you can also participate on the date of the clothing sale (12/4) with setup, tear down, cash register, sorting, folding and displaying clothes, meet & greet people, or even passing out flyers for the event the weekend before. Baptismal Class
Our last class will be this Sunday after service from 11:45am – 12:15pm in the church basement. Remember that our baptism service is on Sunday 12/12 @10am at the Point Church in North Brunswick.
Thanksgiving Dinner (11/23)
Save the Date! On Tuesday (11/23) afternoon and evening, we will be having a combined Thanksgiving event with the Point Church at Aldersgate Methodist Church in East Brunswick (568 Ryders Lane, EB 08816). We will begin in the afternoon with open gym so please invite your friends to come early to play some basketball and volleyball starting at 4pm. Dinner will follow at 6:30PM. Donate a Turkey or Ham
