Hey all,

I just talked to Oskar who is organizing this (or rather next) year's
Piratislava ride from Vienna to Bratislava (a video went through the
list a few weeks ago). He told me the date is fixed for Saturday 5 January.
There was talk of holding the winter meeting around that time in Vienna
so I wanted to pass this information on in order to be able to decide
whether it could or should be merged. Piratislava is a fun non
competitive race/alley-cat in Vienna and then approx. 60 km to
Bratislava where there is usually a party before people go back by bike
or train the next day. So if the winter meeting is at the same date it
would take a day off this weekend for organizing but surely be a fun
experience together.
I don't know how many people would come for the winter meeting but since
last year the youth hostel was completely full and in case we are 10 to
20 or more people we should probably organize an extra place for people
to sleep, according to what I talked with Oskar. I could organize this
if we agree on going there as a group and I get some info on how many
people would come.
I guess there are some other questions regarding the upcoming winter
meeting as well so this is just some info and incentive to start a
discussion (if that isn't already running on the organizer's list) on
date and place. Even if the winter meeting should not be around
Piratislava but nevertheless in Vienna I would offer to assist in
organizing.

hope to see many of you soon,
samuel

Wow!

Thanks for this Samuel.

I was hoping the winter meeting would be late January as I have some commitments in the UK until then and the Christmas period is always a bit hectick ;)

If other people are up for it then I can try to juggle some things round... it would be really fun!

Ideally for me we would meet early February, once things are a bit more confirmed re the host organizations / EYFA and EVS etc
What are others thinking?
What are the alternative options?

Are there any other interesting things people might be going to anyway to support such as the ZAD that we could tie into the meeting either in January / February? Perhaps we could open this up to the general bike tour lists for suggestions?

Love K x

um...Kate love this is the general list! :-) Thanks for this Samuel, sounds great (p.s I owe you an email!)

Very sadly I also wouldn't be able to make it out for this as I will be on an island off Scotland and have to be in Edinburgh for a bit after.

Perhaps we can chat on the org list more about options and let people know once we have something concrete? Like Kate said if people have suggestions and think they might want to be involved in the winter meeting let us know!

Alice

p.s FYI the winter meeting is where people who want to be involved in organising the next BT get together somewhere in Europe and get the ball rolling. It's an open meeting and when and where is also open.
