--- FACING EVICTIONS : REOCCUPATION DEMONSTRATION ---

The struggle against the airport project of Notre-Dame des Landes kept on
growing in the last years. Among other initiatives, an occupation movement
has spread on the houses and farmland threatened. A year ago, facing
increasing threats on the different houses, huts and gardens, inhabitants
of the ZAD and solidarity collectives called for a mass demonstration of
reoccupation in case of evictions.

### When Caesar is floundering...

On Tuesday, October 16th the dreaded eviction offensive started.  1,200
policemen invaded the 1,800 hectares of the ZAD. They attacked gradually
occupied houses and huts, destroying them and washing away every garbage
pieces out of the area, leaving nothing that could be used to rebuild.
Occupiers and all those who joined them on the spot resisted, barricaded,
reoccupied. Together, we have done everything to stop the destruction
machinery and block police movements ... We're still here!

Our determination was strengthened by a great wave of solidarity coming
from the entire country and beyond: daily demonstrations in Nantes and in
various cities, supplies and materials, support actions on representations
of socialist party, Vinci, airport manufacturers and other crushers of our
lives...

While most homes have already been evicted as well as some huts, many
other occupiers remain in the woods, in the fields, in the trees. New
constructions are already underway. In addition to the occupiers, « legal
» inhabitants and local peasants are also threatened to have to leave the
ZAD in the coming months. This is to say that this XXL eviction attempt is
going to last. Wise guys from the departmental authority officially called
their military operation: "Caesar." It is up to us show them how the
resistance against the airport is actually relentless, they will finally
be defeated and ridiculous.

## We keep on fighting, we are still here!

Beyond the call to join the area and continue the solidarity actions in
the coming weeks, we confirm today that a mass demonstration of
reoccupation will take place on Saturday, November 17th 2012, starting
from one of the villages near the ZAD.

After this first eviction round, we are looking forward to a time of
broad, constructive and offensive mobilization, shared by the various
parts of the struggle: occupiers, peasants, inhabitants, local people and
from elsewhere, associations and solidarity groups... The objective is to
reconstruct an open collective place on threatened lands, meant for
struggle organization. We want to make this place a hub for occupiers and
people struggling against the airport, a starting point for new housing
constructions, an antenna to organize resistance to future works: those of
the airport and its highway (which is the first stage of the project,
meant to begin in January). They well may militarize the area; they will
not prevent us from resettling here.

---- Additional and practical infos ----

- Occupiers from the ZAD and people from the network Reclaim The Fields
launched this call for reoccupation. They previously had occupied
wasteland with more than a thousand people in May 2012 in order to settle
the vegetable farm "Le Sabot". Today we invite all people and groups to
spread information on this initiative and to join November 17th
organization.

- Beyond a demonstration, this is above all about a collective action that
will gain power from a long and active presence of the greatest number of
persons. Plan to be there for the weekend and more if you can: to begin
the occupation, to continue constructions, to defend, and to generate
ideas for the future.

- Bring diverse and varied tools and materials, overalls, sound, wacky
creations, portable radios, pies to share and unfailing determination.

- It is possible to arrive the day before. Meeting and camping spots will
be announced in the days before the event.

- Given the energy required to resist against evictions by then, and the
consequent exhaustion of occupiers, success of this event depends
crucially on the involvement of solidary individuals and collectives
everywhere. We call for public meetings, relaying information and car
sharing in each village for November 17th.

--- WHY DO WE STRUGGLE ? For the resistance to the airport and it’s world.

At Notre-Dame des Landes, policy makers and concreters are working on a
new airport to fulfil their dreams of voracious metropolis and economic
expansion. For 40 years they have been wanting to destroy under concrete
2,000 hectares of agricultural land and habitats situated on the north of
Nantes. The concerned area is called ZAD, originally named ‘Zone
d’Aménagement Différé’ (Deferred Development Zone) by airport stakeholders
is now ‘Zone A Défendre’ (Zone To Defend).

Since the beginnings of this project, resistances are organizing. This
struggle is at the crossroads of issues on which unite and think of common
strategies. Through it, we are fighting feeding on a drip, industrial
society and global warming, territory control and economic development
policies, cities and ways of life standardization, privatization of the
commons, myths of growth and the illusion of democratic participation...

Today as yesterday, the opponents are far from giving up and keep on
struggling via: demonstrations, legal actions, links with other struggles,
hunger strikes, circulation of newspapers, free tolls operations,
oppositions to drillings, sabotages, disturbance of impact studies and
archaeological excavations, office and building sites occupations, etc.

To the detriment of the state and Vinci who buy and destroy to clear the
ZAD, life and activity densified and diversified in the zone over more
than three years. Many abandoned houses have been rehabilitated and
occupied, huts were built on the ground and in the trees, collectives
occupy land to produce vegetables. Meeting spaces, a bakery, a library,
homes, were open to all. More than a hundred persons were constantly
living in the ZAD, supported by many other people, local and from
elsewhere, who met and organised there. This presence on the ground has
allowed rapid reactions against the works’ process undertaken by Vinci. It
is this creative and subversive pack that they seek to eradicate today in
order to start the building sites.

We keep in mind the past victories against megalomaniac projects, from the
nuclear industry to the military. As in the Carnet, in Plogoff or in the
Larzac, we know that this airport can still be stopped. We look at the
other side of the Alps where opposition to the construction of the
high-speed train line Lyon-Turin mobilizes the entire Susa valley, where
tens of thousands of people prevent the works. Here as well, any attempt
to concrete the land will cost them dearly.

--- FACE AUX EXPULSIONS : MANIFESTATION DE RÉOCCUPATION ! ---

La lutte contre le projet d'aéroport de Notre-Dame des Landes n'a cessé de
prendre de l'ampleur au cours des dernières années. Entre autres
initiatives, un mouvement d'occupation s'est étendu sur les bâtis et
bocages menacés. Il y un an, face aux menaces croissantes sur les
différentes maisons, cabanes et potagers, des habitant.e.s de la ZAD et
collectifs solidaires appelaient à une manifestation de réoccupation en
cas d'expulsion.

## Quand César patauge...

Depuis le mardi 16 octobre, l'offensive redoutée a commencé. Les 1800
hectares de la ZAD ont été envahis par 1200 policiers. Ceux-ci se sont
attaqués petit à petit aux maisons et cabanes occupées qu’ils ont
détruites et emportées minutieusement pièce par pièce hors de la zone,
pour ne rien laisser qui puisse servir aux occupant.e.s.
Les occupant.e.s et toutes celles et ceux qui les ont rejoint sur place
ont résisté, barricadé, réoccupé. Ensemble, nous avons tout fait pour
enrayer les machines de destructions et bloquer les mouvements
policiers... Nous sommes toujours là !

Notre détermination a été renforcée par une grande vague de solidarité au
4 coins de l'hexagone et au-delà : manifestations quotidiennes à Nantes et
dans diverses villes, ravitaillement et soutien matériel, actions sur les
représentations du PS, de Vinci et consorts, constructeurs de l’aéroport
et broyeurs de nos vies...

Si la plupart des maisons en durs ont déjà été expulsées, ainsi que
quelques cabanes, de nombreux autres habitant.e.s demeurent, dispersé.e.s
dans les bois, les champs, dans les arbres. De nouvelles constructions
sont déjà lancées. Outre les occupant.e.s, des habitant.e.s "légaux" et
paysan.ne.s sont toujours menacé.e.s de devoir dégager de la ZAD dans les
mois à venir. Autant dire que cette tentative d’expulsion XXL est partie
pour durer. Les gros malins de la Préfecture ont officiellement intitulé
leur opération militaire : « César ». A nous de leur prouver que la
résistance face à l'aéroport est effectivement « irréductible » et qu'eux
seront finalement défaits et ridicules.

## On ne lâche rien et on est toujours là !

Au delà de l'appel à rejoindre la zone et à poursuivre les actions
solidaires dans les semaines à venir, nous confirmons aujourd'hui qu'une
grande manifestation de réoccupation aura bien lieu le samedi 17 novembre
2012, au départ d'un des villages proches de la ZAD.

Après ce premier round d'expulsions, nous aspirons à un moment de
mobilisation large, constructive et offensive, partagé par les différentes
composantes de la lutte : occupant.e.s, agriculteur.rice.s, habitant.e.s
du coin et d’ailleurs, associations et groupes solidaires.... L'objectif
sera de reconstruire ensemble un lieu ouvert d’organisation sur les terres
menacées. Nous voulons faire de ce lieu un carrefour pour les
opposant.e.s, un point de départ pour de nouveaux habitats, une antenne
pour organiser la résistance aux travaux à venir, autant ceux de
l’aéroport que du barreau routier, première étape du projet censée débuter
en janvier. Ils peuvent bien militariser la zone, ils ne nous empêcheront
pas de nous y réinstaller.

- Cet appel à réoccupation a été lancé par le réseau Reclaim The Fields et
des occupant.e.s de la ZAD qui avaient occupé des terres en friche avec
plus d'un millier de personnes en mai 2012 pour y implanter la ferme
maraîchère "Le Sabot" . Nous invitons aujourd'hui tous les groupes qui le
souhaitent à relayer cette initiative et à rejoindre l'organisation du 17
novembre.


- Au-delà d’une manifestation, il s’agit avant tout d’une action
collective qui gagnera en puissance avec une présence longue et active du
plus grand nombre. Prévoyez d'être là pendant le week-end et plus si
possible pour amorcer l’occupation, continuer les constructions, les
défendre, et en faire émerger des idées pour la suite.

- Amenez des outils et matériaux divers et variés, des bleus de travail,
du son, des créations loufoques, des radios portatives, des tartes à
partager et une détermination sans faille.

- Il sera possible d'arriver dès la veille. Un espace de campement sera
annoncé dans les jours précédant la manifestation.

- Vu l'énergie nécessaire à la résistance aux expulsions d'ici là et
l'épuisement conséquent pour les occupant-e-s, la réussite de cette
manifestation dépend de manière cruciale de l'implication des collectifs
et individu-e-s solidaires partout ailleurs. Nous appelons à ce que
s'organisent des réunions publiques, relais d'information et co-voiturages
dans chaque bourg en vue du 17 novembre.

--- POURQUOI ON LUTTE ? Sur la résistance à l'aéroport et son monde. ---

À Notre-Dame des Landes, décideurs et bétonneurs planchent sur un nouvel
aéroport pour parfaire leurs rêves voraces de métropole et d’expansion
économique. Cela fait maintenant 40 ans qu’ils veulent anéantir sous le
béton 2000 hectares de terres agricoles et d’habitats au nord de Nantes,
la ZAD, Zone d'Aménagement Différé devenue Zone A Défendre.

Mais depuis les prémices de ce projet, des résistances s’organisent. Cette
lutte est au carrefour d’enjeux sur lesquels s’unir et penser des
stratégies communes. À travers elle, nous combattons l’alimentation sous
perfusion, la société industrielle et son réchauffement climatique, les
politiques de développement économique et de contrôle du territoire, les
métropoles et la normalisation des formes de vie, la privatisation du
commun, le mythe de la croissance et l’illusion de participation
démocratique...

Aujourd’hui comme hier, les opposant-e-s, loin de baisser les bras,
poursuivent la lutte : manifestations, recours juridiques, liens avec
d’autres luttes, grèves de la faim, diffusion de journaux, péages
gratuits, opposition aux forages, sabotages, perturbations des études
d’impact de Biotope et des fouilles archéologiques, occupations de bureaux
et de chantiers, etc...

Au grand dam de l’État et de Vinci qui rachètent et détruisent pour vider
la ZAD, la vie et l’activité s’y sont densifiées et diversifiées depuis
plus de trois ans. De nombreuses maisons laissées à l’abandon ont été
réhabilitées et occupées, des cabanes ont été construites au sol et dans
les arbres, des collectifs occupent des terres pour y faire du maraîchage.
Des espaces de réunion, boulangerie, bibliothèque, gîte étaient ouverts à
tous et toutes. Plus d’une centaine de personnes occupaient en permanence
la ZAD, soutenues par de nombreuses autres du coin et d’ailleurs qui s’y
rencontraient et s’y organisaient. Cette présence sur le terrain
permettait des réactions rapides face au processus entrepris par Vinci en
vue des travaux. C'est ce vivier créatif et indocile qu'ils cherchent
aujourd'hui à éradiquer en vue de pouvoir commencer les travaux.

Nous gardons en mémoire les victoires passées contre les projets mégalos,
du nucléaire au militaire. Comme au Carnet, à Plogoff ou au Larzac, nous
savons que cet aéroport peut encore être stoppé. Nous regardons de l’autre
coté des Alpes où l’opposition à la construction de la Ligne à Grande
Vitesse Lyon-Turin mobilise toute une vallée, où des dizaines de milliers
de personnes empêchent les travaux. Ici aussi toute tentative de bétonnage
des terres leur coûtera cher.
