Hi guys,

Quick question, do we still need thebedroomlaboratory.com domain as well as thebedlab.com or would people be happy with just the latter? Renewal has come around for thebedlab and I was thinking I might switch it so that we get that domain for free with the hosting we got recently.

Deadly, I'll transfer the thebedlab.com domain over to hosting account so. We'll still have the thebedroomlaboratory.com domain until February 5th 2016 anyway. Boom!

Hey guys,

Hope everyone's keeping well! Just a quick note because the thebedlab.com domain and hosting is up for renewal. There's been nothing new on the site in the last year so I just wanted to see what everyone wants to do: renew the domain or let it lapse? I don't think I'll have much time to work on this over the next few months so I'm in two minds about it.

I would love to keep up with it but same as you I do not have the time at the moment, How much is the domain? if its not expensive maybe keep that and we could back up the site on github or something, then if any of us decided to go back at a later date we could?

Yeah sorry guys I haven't contributed in years, so my opinion probably has less weight but after checking the site for the first time in ages there's some really cool stuff on there so it would be a shame to see it die. How much is renewal?

Hey Guys, ya I'd agree with Colin, i think there's some great stuff up there. Haven't contributed much at all so like that my opinion would count much less but think should renew.

Cool, I'll renew the domain and move the hosting somewhere cheaper. Think it'll only be about 20e for the year all in, so it's not a big expense to keep alive.

I like that! I took another look and it is only the hosting that is set to expire at the start of next week, so I'll give Github Pages a shot at the weekend and if I can't get it working, will just shift over to hostso as a stopgap. Thanks guys!

Right, I've taken a full backup of the Wordpress and have uploaded it to our GitHub Organisation as a Hexo static blog. The markdown files will need to be edited in the source branch of the repo (https://github.com/thebedroomlaboratory/thebedroomlaboratory.github.io) to fix broken image links etc but it looks like it'll work well, and means free hosting! I'll tackle that again when I have a bit of free time.

So I have started working through fixing some of the conversion issues and have completed most of Gregs api week posts. BTW @greg only appreciating the python cod now since I actually started to learn it ha. Might throw together a couple of posts on getting started with Python over next couple of months.

Ok I think we are sorted now although there are a couple of images that are referenced that don't exist

If anyone does add any new posts , lets try to
  1. keep it in Markdown including using ``` to designate code and ![alt text](src url) for images. its easier to convert to html the back
  2. If adding images try to use the blog name and a meaningful name, would make it a lot easier to find

One Thing I did notice is that many of the posts don't seem to have a reference to the author.... not sure how that happened
