Theatre Wallay, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), recently presented its latest theatre production — “Do Dafa Ka Zikr Hai” (Twice Upon a Time) — at the PNCA Auditorium on October 25, 2025.
Based on traditional German and Pakistani tales, the Urdu play transported audiences — children and adults alike — into a world of imagination, humor, and reflection. Through storytelling, music, and movement, it explored timeless human themes such as empathy, courage, and cultural connection.
The show drew an enthusiastic crowd of families, students, artists, educators, and members of the diplomatic community. It was warmly received for its creativity, layered storytelling, and celebration of the shared power of imagination.
H.E. Ina Lepel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Pakistan, praised the performance for blending German and Pakistani storytelling traditions and highlighting universal values of good and evil, love and loyalty.
Fizza Hasan, Founder and Artistic Director of Theatre Wallay, shared:
“In our times of technology and AI, no one is telling stories to our children anymore and they are losing their ability to listen and imagine. With this production, we hope to rekindle the joy of stories — for children and adults alike.”
Do Dafa Ka Zikr Hai was co-written and co-directed by Fizza Hasan and Safeer Ullah Khan, with performances by a talented ensemble of Theatre Wallay actors.
Theatre Wallay remains committed to creating meaningful theatre that entertains, educates, and builds cultural understanding. Our collaboration with the German Embassy continues to strengthen the dialogue between our communities through the arts.
Warm regards,
