Good Morning all,
I use an old version of WWB (WWB6) and do monster mixed systems with
mostly very good results. And yes it does have its quirks. And as a
caution I have discovered Shures TV station Data base is out of date
with some on the air stations not being listed and some currently off
the air being listed. Of course off the air stations sometimes do go on
the air for testing with out warning. Called Shure again, and I was
told that the Shure Frequency Finder web page was currently undergoing
work and they were not currently changing anything on the basis of user
reporting. So that leaves us with Rabbit Ears Info, and the FCC Query.
Of course when ever possible I like to do a scan and verify for a true
picture of the spectrum for the antenna system that will be used.
So with the version of WWB6 that I have used for years (thank you Shure)
one can force a set of frequencies into the mix and check them for
intermod and TV interference. So it starts with adding to inventory. I
like to put any system a client has (Like the Samsons) into the system
first and check it for compatibility before anything. Yeah, I have
found a lot of client systems that are not the best. Including some
major municipal auditoriums. Not going to even get into local news rigs
that show up 5 minutes before an event. For those I learned to go
copper.
For the Samsons that are not in WWWB6 listing, I found that Shure ULXP4
G3 band set for Master list covered most of the frequencies possible
frequencies. To force certain frequencies to be used. Load about 10 or
so into inventory. Then for each of the 8 frequencies you have click
the system you have and then double click on "Find Best" and chose
frequency from list, or enter one. Hopefully the frequencies of the
Samsons are on 25 kHZ intervals. When you have the 8 entered. Go to
"Frequency Coordination" and down load these from inventory. I then lock
the frequencies of before proceeding to enter active TV stations to
exclude and other frequencies TV channels 18 and 19 for now, as the
Samsons band is for TV14 to TV17.
Click on analyze. And hope fully the set of 8 Samsons will be good. If
not there is work to be done, and it might take a little magic. I would
try unlocking the bad frequencies and asking Shure to "Calculate" some
good frequencies hopefully that are available to use. WWB6 will select
from 190 or so frequencies and there is a good chance that it will find
few that are good for Samson as well. If there is a total disaster. One
could add more ULX G3 to inventory and improve the chances of finding a
good set of 8.
Delete bad stuff and proceed with cleaning up inventory as well by
deleting what you are not going to use. Then one can proceed to adding
other systems and letting Shure WWB6 make good decisions.
Good Luck,
