Archer March Agape Postponed to March 16

Dear Friends

We are postponing our Archer Earth Community Agape until Sunday March 16 given the uncertainty of the weather and travel conditions this coming Sunday due to Cyclone Alfred.

Agape will be held at 2461 Sandgate Rd Boondall and our focus is reconnecting with our vision as an Archer Earth Community.   If you are attending please bring a copy of the vision statement attached to this email and, if you wish, material for journalling.  We will gather from 10am for a 10.30 start and conclude Agape with a shared meal.  

For those able to stay after lunch on March 16 we will have a preliminary planning meeting about the September Bunya Mountains Retreat.

 Dear Archer Earth Community friends

We are steadily recovering here on Coochie. Our place has not sustained any major damage, just lots of twiggy branches and leaves spread around.  Our mulched driveway is very boggy waiting to dry out.  And our garden slowly will get all the plants in pots back into their usual places.

The main issue for us and most folk here was the power outage.  Coupled with this the loss of connectivity and phone reception.  All have lost perishables and suffered high anxiety around all of this.  Supporting each other has shown the depth and resilience of our community, though mentally and physically we are all tired.

Our near neighbours had an open door policy for phone charging and any questions.  Many folk used this service.  That household were also responsible for safely securing 4 yachts and watching over them around the clock through dangerous high winds and tides. 

One day they presented us with a beautiful fish just thawing and needing to be eaten. Our other neighbour cooked it for us on his gas BBQ.  We shared food and encouragement and checked in on more vulnerable community members.

Our candle in the window (taped for the threatening winds) was a signal to our friend Maggie that we were open and ready to make her coffee and breakfast on our single burner gas camping stove.

Thanks so much for all your prayers and support.  It has meant a lot to us to know the real sense of connectivity in community is a great anchor in the storm!  We hope each of you has been able to come through with a new awareness of the Grace and Mercy of our Loving Creator.

We look forward to catching up in person on Sunday at Agape at 2461.

We are wondering how those of us impacted by current events are faring.  Gerard and I are safe and well.  The anxiety we experienced in total loss of communications for 24 hrs was real enough but we are some of the lucky ones with power restored where we live.  It will be weeks before many are back to normal.  

Heather and David, how are you on Coochie especially? And others?  You are in our thoughts and we hope that you and family and friends are safe.  

We are attaching an interfaith climate prayer and hold all of us inside of it.
