2025 UN Ocean Conference
Those who have seen David Attenborough’s film Ocean will be aware of this conference to be held in Nice France from 9 to 13 June 2025.  It is calling for urgent action to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for future generations.  Scientists agree that establishing a network of marine sanctuaries can restore the health of oceans.   See https://sdgs.un.org/conferences/ocean2025
In particular, the film highlights the disastrous effects of ‘Bottom Trawling’ as a practice. See https://www.greenpeace.org.au/learn/what-is-bottom-trawling/

Brian Swimme TED Talk
You may find this presentation by Brian Swimme entitled The Third Story of the Universe a helpful summary of the development of the Universe.  He describes the arrival of the human as  the arrival of a ‘new phylum of life’ which, as a collective, led to the ‘noosphere’ - a ‘planetary mind’.

As we conclude we keep in our thoughts and prayer the important UN Ocean Conference (9-13 June) and pray this prayer from Mercy International.
How amazing a Creator to design the sea. We watch the waves crash along the shore, mesmerised by their power and grace. We marvel at creatures miraculous in colour moving swiftly through the waters.
The sea is so very intimate, filled with memories and dreams, hopes and fears. But the depths of the ocean are filled with mysteries, wondrous and unknown.
The tides remind us that Your world is all connected. That Your presence is never far from where we stand. The salt that runs through our bodies is the same salt that ran through the ancient seas. The ocean is more than surging currents, it is us and we are it.

May the love of God be as deep as the ocean floor, as sweeping as the currents, and as soothing as the waves crashing on the shore. Creator of mysteries, help each of us be stewards of the ocean. Stir our spirits with wonder and amazement knowing that Your love for us extends even beyond the horizon of the open sea. We rejoice in the living waters of the ocean and tread lightly on Your shores, hoping to leave this miraculous creation a mystery to behold for all future generations. Amen.

Blessings from
