I have the Blackbox Airbus Prologue at the moment, but usually only fly the A320 model. For any other Blackbox A320 users out there, is there anyway to get the Airbus to descend at a faster speed, say, 300 KTS? I have talked to various Airbus pilots about the A320 aircraft in general (descent speeds, types of descents, and descent rates) and have learned a lot about the bus, and know that it can and usually will descend anywhere from 280 up to 300+ Knots depending on weather, weight, cost index, etc. The blackbox A320's MCDU however has a set managed descent speed of 250 Knots. You can change the cost index, which will affect the cruise and climb speeds, but the descent speed is always set to 250 for me  . Is there anyway to get the aircraft to descent faster? Sometimes I find myself preparing to fly a STAR with a constraint of 280 Knots, and the descent speed still set at 250. I have inputted selected mode speeds in the MCDU before descent of 280+ but it doesnt seem to change the T/D point, and still descends very poorly causing an early level off.
Yes, you can dial in the speed manually using the FMC/MCDU, go to the decent page and put in numbers there. There's supposed to be a update for the A320 package soon which addresses that, but for now, just type in the speed in the performance/decent page. Mind you, put in not only knots but also mach numbers.
Thanks! I'll be trying it soon to see how it performs. However when it descends using those numbers it usually gets below its own Vertical path causing a level off, or the aircraft gets too slow causing the thrust to be set to hold the speed which is quite annoying! I look forward to any update really! Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm afraid like most people you where conned out of your money by a bunch of slippery operators who moved to Malta after their first venture Pss went down the drain leaving people without downloads and repaints when they closed the servers down. That was after the repaints they never paid their repainters for.
Haha Agreed! Well seeing as I've bought it almost a year ago, I'm not too disappointed about it ^_^ ! I'll just wait for the FSL Airbus A320! By the looks of it, it's (hopefully) going to be as good, if not better, than Aerosoft. But that's a whole new discussion  !
If it helps i strongly recommend the Aerosoft Airbus, it doesn't have the failures that will come with the FSL, but it's an excellent addition to your hanger, it occupies a very comfortable mid-point between the ranks of PMDG / Majestic and probably somewhat superior to Qualitywings.
I have the Aerosoft Airbus! I enjoy the systems & the graphics! But it kills my frames a lot and the quick reactions of the controls when on autopilot doesn't seem right lol. Thanks for the reply & have a great day!
Many people choose not to like the BBS airbuses, many with sound arguments based on their experiences and knowledge. I on the other hand think opposite and compared to freeware, the package was worth my money. However,I am sure all of us can enjoy this short video review.
Harry, exactly the opposite. I bgean my post by saying that many people choose NOT to like the BBS Widebodies. I DO like them Sorry for any confusion. Hope you got a laugh out of the clip, which was the main reason for posting ?
So I bought the Blackbox A330 standalone package the other day and I am actually very happy with the aircraft. However I am having some rather major issues in getting flight plans sorted for the FMC and FSX.
I cant import flight plans because the generated ones I have tried causes the game to go nuts when activated in the FMC due to it making FSuipc crash and restart constantly (no simconnect data). I have found that it seems to generate a flight plan when entering your departure and arrival info. Or else its loading the current plan from FSX, I dunno.
Does the Blackbox Axxx FMC auto-generate flight plans? Or is it loading my FSX flight plan when I input the info? And if its generating a flight plan of its own, how do I get FSX to read the .afp format? Or do I have to tell FSX im flying VFR and "wing it"?
I would contact the Black Box with these questions, i'm sure they have a help forum. I have the Aerosoft Airbuses and have had many problems "ironed out" with their forum help. BTW, just curious are you really trying to fly VFR in an Airbus A330?
Im not in to spending 20+ mins imputing it by hand, because I am partially dyslexic. I know how to use the FMC, I learned that pretty fast on the Airbus X previously. I just dont know the "quirks" and methods of the blackbox version. The manual is extremely light on the subject and skims over it without explaining it properly.
And yeah Im aware of the shortcuts. But as I said I am partially dyslexic so it takes me time to make sure its programmed properly. Or else I am likely to make mistakes and mess it all up. So I prefer to generate and load a flight plan instead of typing.
I am enjoying it immensely at the moment. I have only flown the 200 variant so far. Not tried the cargo version, the 300 variant or the RAF tanker yet. Quite a nice package for under 20, I would recommend it for those on a budget who want a "nice" plane. Its not airbus X level of quality, but its good enough for the time being.
Oh and I think I found out the cause of the FMC going nuts with flightplans. The Airac data for the plane is from 2012, and I have been using the current 1510 cycle version to plot courses. So since there is a mismatch on data, Im pretty sure its causing a problem for the FMC.
My brain said "hold on a moe, maybe the auto-pillock is borked?". Turns out I was right. The autopilot information in the cfg is..... fracked up. Someone (bbs i r looking at you) just basically went down every option and put a 1 next to it. Which meant it was going nuts when activated from contrary commands.
Any plan to get a BlackboxSimulation flgihtplan export tool on the PFPX next version?
I fly a340 alot but miss a flightplan export option so I can load the FPL right in the MCDU.
Hope it is possible to plan something with that,I hope it come with the next update.
"If you are an advanced user and want to load a flight plan (company route) into the MCDU follow these steps:
1. Get FSBUILD2.4.1, update the NAVDATA to same AIRAC cycle as your BBS aircraft. This is a critical step to avoid problems.
2. Make sure you create the PSS Airbus output folder, for example: C:\FLIGHTSIM\LOCKHEED MARTIN\PREPAR3D V3\PSS\Airbus A3XX
3. Plan your flight in the standard plan format, e.g.: ALVE1W ALVEN UP430 BONAN UT430 LAGSA
4. Copy your route into the FSBUILD Flight Plan box and set departure/arrival airport. Alternatively you can use FSBUILD to plan the entire flight for you. Its a very good flight planner and was around a long time before PFPX
5. Press "BUILD"to create the route. You should get a message that the .PSS file has been created. If you get an error message make sure the correct folder exists.
6. Copy the file you created to your BBS flight plan folder, for example: C:\FlightSim\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\BlackBox Simulation\Airbus A330 Family
7. Load the BBS Airbus. On the MCDU INIT enter the flight plan file name in company route field. The file name format is DDDD-AAAA (DDDD=Departure ICAO AAAA=Arrival ICAO)
8. Limitations on departure - once the flight plan is loaded you cannot select a departure runway/SID but you can add the SID way-points and altitude constraints. Usually ATC will vector you so not a major issue. If you include the SID in use (like the example above where ALVE1W in the SID) in your plan its possible to automatically build the SID into the flight plan.
9. Limitations on arrival - again you cant select the arrival runway and STAR but there is a simple work around. Just go to the last way-point and make a lateral revision. Select ALTN and enter the same arrival airport again. This resets the arrival airport and allows runway and STAR selection.
I mentioned above this is for advanced users but it works. If you have questions please post them and I'll do my best to help. "
I have the BBS A-330 and PFPX, solution for me was to export the flight plan to FSX documents folder then copy and paste into blackbox flightplan folder..works everytime..if this doesnt work for you then i'm not sure if there will be another solution.....
