At Comerica Park the Detroit Tigers were battered 8 to 3 by the New York AL
Yankees.
Waite Hoyt(1-0) got the win despite looking shaky at times. He gave up 6 hits
and 1 walk in 5 innings and surrendered 2 'round-trippers'. New York AL
rapped out 11 hits for the night.
Goose Gossage gained credit for his 1st save. Tommy Bridges(0-1) was given
the loss. He allowed 9 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings.
Lou Gehrig led the charge going 3-4 with a HR.
