The Yankees got off to a good start in the World Series, defeating the Pirates 8-3.
Babe Ruth had 4 hits and 2 HR.
Yogi Berra had 2 HR and 4 RBI.
Joe DiMaggio also homered.
Chesboro breezed until the ninth and needed relief help from Ron Guidry.
Philippe started and struggled for Pittsburgh. He allowed 10 hits (4 HR)and 6 runs in 5 innings.
