The Dream Season is over...

In a fitting end to a season with not much pennant drama, the Yankees complete the sweep of the Pirates.

For the second straight game the Pirates bullpen was stellar, only to be undone by unearned runs...

Congrats to Dennis and the Yankees for a great season, and to Aaron for a great run by his Pirates.

Lou Gehrig had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at PNC Park as the New York AL Yankees beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4 to 3. Pittsburgh was unable to claim the lead after New York AL went ahead in the 7th inning scoring a single run. New York AL out-hit Pittsburgh for the game, 12 hits to 8. Waite Hoyt(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 3 runs. Hoyt was helped out by Mariano Rivera who recorded his 2nd save. Larry French(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 2 innings of work.

Thanks Bill for running the league. Took awhile but it got done...:) Keep me in mind if you want to go for another one.

Bah!  Methinks I could have got the Bucs at least  one win, alas it was not to be via proxy.  They did well to get to the WS.  I can't say I am terribly disapointed.

They were in every game it seems...the defensive lapses in games 3-4 probably kept them from tying the series and having a shot.
