Subject: A new doco film, a new break, and a new FREE eBook.

It's been almost a month since the last Byte....

It's been a slow, difficult month, several ups and downs, with one "up" being a trip to New York to be filmed as part of a documentary (unrelated to the Starchild) that I can't discuss until given a go-ahead by the film's producers. However, it's a fascinating subject, and something you'll recognize when I'm free to explain it. And now we have another great breakthrough....

Something very interesting will be happening soon!

I can't yet tell you what it is, but something important is finally jelling. It, too, is NOT Starchild related, but fascinating in its own right, and something that will thrill us all, I'm sure. I know this, too, is frustrating to hear because it's pretty much what I said in the last Byte. However, I did say then that we faced some hurdles, and they were higher than we thought they'd be.

We've cleared them now, and the "official" wheels will soon be in motion. Trust me. You know I tell you everything I can absolutely as soon as I can, but sometimes doing so would be foolish because I can't afford to telegraph my moves. When it's over, you'll be the first to know, up or down, make or break, I promise. That's what these Bytes of Pye are all about.

Meantime, I've published a new FREE eBook I'm sure you'll enjoy, and that I hope you'll help spread with your social media skills....

It's called "A Turkey Dog, A Genius Monkey, and Moe." It is a short (7,700 word) compilation of the three best short stories I've written, ones that have been published in various periodicals like magazines and newspapers. In fact, the first one, the one about a turkey my family raised to think it was a dog, is becoming a kind of underground classic. It's routinely published at Thanksgiving in various local newspapers around the country. Everyone loves it. Maybe you've seen it before in that way. If not, don't miss it. And because I make it free for publishers to reprint at Thanksgiving, by all means share it with your local newspaper editors. I'm pretty sure they'll appreciate having it.

The second story is about a monkey named Oscar who became nationally famous in the mid-to-late 1930's as a side attraction at the resort of Wakulla Springs, Florida. If you've ever been there, you know it sits on the deepest freshwater spring in the world (185 feet deep). Viewing that through a glass-bottomed boat is an experience to remember! But in the late 1930s, people were coming to Wakulla Springs not to see the actual springs, but to try to catch a glimpse of Oscar riding on the front haunch of an extremely mean and tough-as-nails wild boar. How could THAT happen? Read the story to find out.

The last one is a personal rumination about the main dog in our yard when I was growing up. His name was Moe. You're introduced to him in the first story, the one about the turkey, but that picture of him is one dimensional and does not do him justice. This narrative poem about him is his real legacy, and if you read it, I'm very confident you'll remember his story for a long time to come.

Last but not least, as long as we're talking about animals.....

My novel "BIG," about a bigfoot being chased by a possee of humans, is also available here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/122036 for $7.00. If you read the reviews of this one, down at the bottom, you'll be convinced of its quality and of its relevance to you if you have any interest in learning more about hominoids like bigfoot, and their certain reality.

Also available is "A Darker Shade of Red," based on my years playing football in college: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/118813 for $7.00. This is for the football fans among you, or those you must know. Please alert them about it. Like "BIG," it was very nearly made into a movie. Unlike BIG, it is also available as a book-book from Amazon for $14 new and $7.00 used.

Everyone loves satisfying stories that linger in the heart and memory. All of these do satisfy that universal desire. You have that in writing!     ;-)
