upcoming July Astrology Group meeting

Welcome to the group email!
Links to sites, charts and presentations can all be accessed, and it is essentially a direct mail address for ongoing updates and conversations.
Emails can be used to put forward ideas for the meetings and presentation topics. To distinguish us from online astrology forums, I thought up The Zodiac Room as a name.
Lets try it on for size, and it can be easily changed.

Next meeting - Thursday 29th July 730pm.
We urge you to bring forth your knowledge on a specific astrology topic!
Presentations can be a great chance to focus you interest in astrology and open up discussion with others in the group.

The Zodiac Room
Stacey Clyde has generously offered the use of her child care centre as a venue for this meeting. It is located at 300 Evans Bay Road in Evans Bay, ph. 04 3862883. Closer to the meeting date we can get numbers roughly confirmed, and cancellations messages are appreciated.

Group Committee
 Nikki Gardiner, Laressa Donaldson and Susan Rooney have put their name forward, and anyone else is welcome to join in. I am happy to be an administrator and look after the online group info, and update new members...

Hi Janine,

 

Thank you for your email. This is just to let you know that the venue for our next meeting is a problem for those of us who do not have car transport. There is no public transport to Evans Bay. In my case the nearest I could get to would be Kilbirnie. I live in Wadestown. It would be a shame for some of us to be excluded. Our previous venue at Courtney Place was fine for me. Do you or anyone else have any suggestions? I would be grateful to receive some ideas from anyone.

I have a car and will be coming from Island Bay, via Lyall Bay, so would be happy to collect people in Kilbirnie on the way. I could wait at the north end of Onepu Rd, opposite the bus terminus, from 7.15 to 7.20...

I can 4 extra people comfortably in my car - 6 at a squeeze.

Good news – there IS public transport to Evans Bay.  There is a number 24 bus that leaves the  Bus station at 7.12 which gets to Greta Point – the bus stop for the suggested venue – at 7.28.  There is no public transport for afterwards but I am sure we can arrange for lifts to either Kilbirnie, Hataitai or town afterwards for non car drivers by the people who drive.

Hello All,
Thanks Janine for setting up this group.  I think the offer of the venue is too good to pass up so I hope we can work our way around the travel. I can probably use the car and I come from Karori if anyone wants a ride.

I am on the committee - and I am wondering what else needs to be done re organisation?  I am rather vague on the details

Is the venue all confirmed and do we need to pay for anything at all - ie heating
Do we bring our own tea/coffee and nibbles etc  -
Did we agree to a $5 charge for such and if so does everyone know this.

I am happy to just turn up on the night but just checking if I should be doing any advance planning

Do we have any ideas for a topic or a chart or perhaps both?

Just a quick one: we should decide on the official name of the group at the upcoming meeting next thursday. It looks like its between Wellington Astrology Group and Wellington Astrology Collective!

Maybe for an hour we could look at "What is a natal chart?" for a topic. Since I'm assuming there will be a few people who might not have any idea what they are looking at, or those who would appreciate a reminder.  Perhaps going over the symbols as well. Can be done collectively or in smaller groups.  Then in the second hour we could look at the chart of someone well known, (a political figure?) and try and use what we have learned to deconstruct the chart.  I like the idea of keeping the identity a secret so we don't have to many preconceptions :)  I'm just putting some ideas on the table though, if anyone has any other ideas...

 

I think Wellington Astrology Group is good. Collective makes it sound a little bit elite ;)

I'm happy to pick you up on the way as I'm coming from Karori and I'm sure that will save time and hassles.  Unfortunately having said that, I'm going to be in Indonesia next Thursday so next time perhaps?  Just drop me a private email if you're interested in getting a ride down.

Also on a completely different topic.... Graham put the original advert for the Astrology session on my "Spirit Guide" website and it would be good advertising to post an event notice for each meeting as they come up - including the topic of the meeting preferably.  I'm sure that will attract more people.  I can look after task this to save committee people time if you like - and I can run the draft text past committee people to see what sounds best (or happy to be given the text).  Here's Graham's original event notice and I love the image of these old astrological clocks you see around Europe:

Here's a flyer that advertises next week's group, that you could spread around those you think might be interested in coming along. If any of you are able to post it in a library or on other notice boards, that'd be great, too.

I'm also attaching the chart for the group, which you may want to look at at some stage. I can re-calculate it with the proper name on it, once the decision is made.
