to The XL's
I recall the XL's performing in the band shell in the West Park in
Durant in the 60's during the annual Fireman's celebration. You would
play before the prize drawing then break while the winners were
announced by Hans First (wod and weel) and resume afterwards. My
parents would stick around long enough to learn that they had once
again failed to win a prize then take us home whereafter I would lay
in bed with the window open listening to your group.

I was too young to see you perform in the sand pit at The Cove but
would go out there later and find interesting things in the sand with
my cousin Scott Bland.

I'm sorry that I once again missed hearing you perform in Wilton, this
time for Thelma's big party. Perhaps I will hear you the next time
around.

Keep on rockin!

I wish you could have joined us for the XL's, but I know your big brother
got married and that looked like a lot of fun also. I saw folks I hadn't
literally seen for 4 decades...Dr. Bill West from Alaska, Shirley Daufeldt
from Atlanta, Tom Hansen from Utah, Jeff Schneckloth and Clifford
Voss....Dan and Marilyn Schumaker...They played til 11:30ish. Leslie Thede
is the most awesome drummer! Thelma wants to have them back next year so
maybe you'll have another opportunity. They are inducted into Ia Rock n
Roll hall of fame @ Arnold Park in the fall. They presented Thelma with an
old guitar and signed it for her and George. Thelma said there was approx
3,000 people in dwntown Wilton during course of day and evening.
Went to see your folks over wkend and they are lookin good! Said they had
the most wonderful time @ the wedding and ate a lot!
