Description: 

Come to learn the various ways to be prepared for any severe weather or disaster that could occur in our area: hurricanes, extreme cold, flooding, fire, terrorism or earthquakes. Public safety agencies and local community organizations will be on hand to provide information to help you create your own personal plan to provide your own shelter, first aid, food and water.

Volunteer Oppertunies:

Attending and disseminating information at designated locations for CERT, ARC'S, and ARES


Various Rolls:

As a CERT Team

To encourage the public to attend a FEMA designed structured class to provide information on what to do in an emergency, starting at home, then extending into the community. Including ways to communicate with family and community through differing means of communications and city / county / state notifications before, during and after a Watch / Warning / or Major Emergency Event.


As a Ham

To encourage emergency operating preparedness for longer range communications, equipment requirements, alternative power supplies, fixed or mobile communications.


As an ARES member

To encourage emergency operating preparedness for outside the community, assisting public service agencies communicate. Enabling long range communications for outside agency response and message communications.

  

In an AUXCOMM position

In support of governmental agency's in communications, additional support, and assisting in communications between government officials and volunteers agency's.


Education Goals:

 

* CERT –                                            Family / Immediate Area
Introduction to CERT and types of emergency communication

FRS (free to everyone) and

GMRS (licensed family radio w/repeater capability), 

 

* Amateur Radio -                              Local to Regional

Introduction to HAM Radio and different types of ham opportunities

HAM (multilevel License)

 

* ARES
Focus towards Emergency Service cooperation at the County Level.

HAM (required license)

 

* Available spot for Demonstration / Other (Battery, Go Kits)

 

Logistics:

We have reserved  space (outside, by grass / water) for MoCo ARES Trailer and 2 tent locations with grass area for antennas.

I will be bringing basic setup supplies (Keith Klimple)

1 Green Roof Tent with Table, Green tablecloth, and 3 chairs.

1 Blue Roof Tent with Table, Blue tablecloth, and 3 chairs.

 

Tent / Spots will be identified before the event and distributed with assignments.

 

Individual groups to supply Volunteers, and any available materials to distribute to the public.

Volunteer Schedule:

Setup 08:30 -09:30

Event 10:00 to 13:00

Removal 13:00 - 13:30

 

Shifts:

(Split Shifts to ensure all volunteers may experience the whole event

A    - 08:30 - 11:00 (2.5 Hrs.)

B    - 11:00 - 13:30 (2.5 Hrs.)

Full - 08:30 - 13:30 (  5 Hrs.)
