Sorry if you get multiple emails, most of us are on multiple groups / lists..
The 2026 CERT Rodeo is almost here ...
There are still positions available ....
Please read all of the following before requesting clarifications.
Q: What is the CERT Rodeo?
A: The CERT Rodeo is an annual CERT training event that draws CERT teams from Houston,
Harris County, and the region for a day of skill practice, team building and fun!
Q: When is this event?
A: Saturday February 14, 2026
(Each Year on the Second Saturday of February)
Q: Where is the CERT Rodeo?
A: The Harris County Fire and Sheriff’s Training Academy 2318 Atascocita Rd., Humble, TX 77396
Q: Who sponsors the CERT Rodeo?
A: Harris County Citizen Corps
Q: Who can participate?
A: The IAP plan provides information for AUXCOMM participation in this event.
All Amateur Radio Operators are invited to participate regardless of being in ARES or any amateur radio groups or club.
AUXCOMM Operators will be assigned as part of the Communications Unit under the command of the COML.
We would like over 40 Volunteers for the 2026 CERT Rodeo
Q: What is amateur radio’s role in this event?
A: AUXCOMM (Auxiliary Communications) will establish a directed net and provide radio operators to communicate
between each of the event stations, the registration area, exhibitor room, parking lots, the various CERT leaders, chiefs,
and incident command (IC).
AUXCOMM will provide operators for all functions and positions designated in the ICS plan.
All field operators will use their own hand-held radio.
Q: What are the hours of operation?
A: AUXCOMM presence is requested from 0600 until about 1600 hours.
The 0600 time includes the communications trailer, parking, volunteer check in and event leadership only.
All other positions do not need to arrive before 0700.
Parking Lot Gates open after 0600,
Assignments should be ready by 0730,
Opening Ceremony 0800,
Until the event finishes, usually 1500 (After Cleanup).
Q: What are the Physical Levels of participation?
A: There are several levels of participation to be as inclusive as possible.
Level 1 - Sedentary position requiring no physical exertion.
Level 2 - Primarily a fixed position with some limited movement
Level 3 - Positions requiring walking for 50% of the assigned work period.
Level 4 - Positions requiring walking for 75% of the work period with little time for rest.
Level 5 - Position requiring constant movement 100% of the time and no time for rest.
I will be asking for more assistance on the Level 5 positions,
we will rotate out communicators during the day or when necessary.
Q: Where are the assignments posted
A: The Assignments will be available at the COMM Trailer during Check-in,
We need to make sure all required positions are filled first.
Q: How do I get involved?
A: It’s real easy using 2 steps:
1) Add your name to the radio operator roster via this form:
The registration link
This form will email back your selections.
If things change before the CERT Rodeo you can edit your registration.
2) Goto the Harris Citizen Corps Website, Click on links on the right side
Print and bring the HCFMO Registration and Liability Release Form.
Print and bring the HCFMO Photography Consent Form.
Read the Check In Procedures and other links to prepare yourself for the event.
If you have problems with these forms they will be available at the registration trailer.
make sure you arrive early enough to fill out these forms.
You do not need to fill out the CERT registration form (information is in Sign up) as in prior years.
The 2026 IAP - 201 / 205 will be sent prior to the event. (Very similar to 2025 CERT Rodeo)
You are encouraged to share with your local clubs and CERT teams that have Communicators.
PLEASE DIRECT ANY COMMUNICATIONS QUESTIONS DIRECTLY TO Keith Klimple,
