About a tenday after Finn meets with the "bookkeeper", both of you are summoned to the same house, though it is Nimh’s first visit.  The servant lets you both in when you arrive, and bring you to the sitting room, which is again adorned with various food stuffs.  There are 2 plates on the table, each with a hand written envelop with your respective names.  Inside, the notes are identical:

I have been called away for business.  The two of you have been hired, please introduce one another.  There is a sack for each of you on the table.  Inside is some starting capital, and a map noting both the operating location and the goblin There is a sack for each of you on the table.  Inside is some starting capital, and a map noting both the operating location and the goblin tribe where you can purchase some underlings, if you so choose.

Get things started.  I will be in touch soon.

In Finn’s bag, there is also a small book and a potion, with instructions for a small ritual to be conducted in the hide out.

[OOC]

Greg, you can continue to ask questions / negotiate with the bookkeeper in the other thread, but I wanted to get you and Ed in the same room.  And move things along.

As a reminder, I am running this somewhat as a sandbox.  I have some plot ideas and adventures, but you guys will control a lot of this as well.  We can hand waive the set-up of the hide out, or can RP through it.

Yes, sorry. Wednesday night is darts, so no time for in-depth thinking, and work was a bear today.

[Nymh]

The lean man with smiling eyes, and a nose that was obviously broken at some point extends a sinewy hand as he sizes his new partner.

"Glad to meet you.  Call me Nymh.  I'm mostly in the item procurement end of the business, but can mix it up if need be.  You look to be a wizard of some type, if I'm correct (if you aren't obviously a wizard, we can scratch that)."

After the reply

"So, what do you think of our task, and you up for getting to it sooner than later?"

[OONot meant to rush.  Google Groups does odd things depending on how I send the messages.  Sometimes it shows in my mail, sometimes it doesn't.

[Finn]
Looking over his new "partner", the tiefling does a quick assessment.

"Nymh, is it? Please to meet you. I am usually called Finn, but I am
thinking the subtle distinction in phonetics will produce far too much
confusion in the task of dealing with goblins. Please call me
'Faethil'".

[Faethil, formerly known as Finn]
"Your powers of observation are truly impressive, I am indeed a
wizard." [OOC: think Maggie Smith as Countess Crawley]

"I am for getting to the task sooner rather than later. Who knows if
we'll be alive later, though I do plan to if I can help it."

Faethil looks over the map, the envelope, the book, sniffs the potion,
and generally assesses the overall plan that has been set before them.

"I believe we are to 'gain influence' in this town our benefactor is
so fond of."

Half to himself, Faethil grumbles, "Goblins. Oh, why did it have to
be goblins?"

Odd, the file was public, so I was under the impression everything under it would be as well.

Faethil believes the spell / ritual components are a complicated spell which will create a permanent dimension door between two fixed points.

[OOC]

You can make any arrangements you need, within reason.  You want supplies/horses/food/ etc, you have them.  No need to account for anything, unless it is unusual.

The Goblin scene will be a bit of fun.  I will post a map of the hideout, but you will be able to decide how you want things set-up there.    I anticipate that, at some time in the future, you will have to deal with intruders, so some thought to security will be good.

Once things are set-up (months in game time, less so in RT), we'll move on.  As I said, I have some discrete adventures sketched out, but you can feel free to make your own plans as well, if you wish.

Ah, yes, I remember fondly the days of constructing hideouts! Brings
me back to the days when I played AD&D back in the 80's :-)

Nymh

What say we go and see about drafting a few goblins, and inspect this location?  Between your knowledge of the mystic arts, and mine of the physical, we should be able to make a somewhat secure location.  As to that teleport thing, we should see about finding a secure location in Nesme to link to.

I posted a map of the hideout, using a new map program I got.  It's serviceable. Will post the start of the Goblin Sale over the weekend.  I have to roll up a couple of dozen goblins.... :)

Nymh is going to need a couple of false walls added, and probably an escape hatch as well.

Greg, we may need to decide if we are going to be collaborative bad guys, or if we are going to go full on Paranoia with competing gangs of goblins picking each other's pockets?

In terms of changes, you guys can make reasonable changes, such as digging tunnels, etc.   There is a "secret" exit to the river (the stairs).

I leave the other to you all.
